It&#8217;s an all-in-one home energy system that combines an inverter and batteries into a single stackable unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Power Cube uses two to nine EQ5500 battery modules, giving you between 10.92 and 49.14 kWh of storage. Fox ESS says its design makes installation quicker and easier, and the different sizes help you choose what fits your home.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>What Power Cube Includes<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Key details in the Fox ESS announcement include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Single-phase models range from 5 kW to 12 kW and are approved by the Clean Energy Council (CEC).<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Three-phase models will range from 5 kW to 15 kW, and Fox ESS says these are coming soon.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">The system supports solar panel oversizing up to 200%.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">It has an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance, so you can install it indoors or outdoors.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">There is a built-in gateway that provides 63 A whole-home backup.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Inter-cell insulation and an aerosol fire-suppression unit in each battery module.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">The system has built-in heating to help it work in cold conditions.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Fox Cloud 2.0 offers monitoring with Wi-Fi, LAN, and Bluetooth connections.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">The Power Cube comes with a 10-year product warranty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fox ESS says this launch comes after solar market analyst SunWiz ranked it first in Australia for installed energy storage capacity in the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>Sizing And The Battery Rebate<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Each EQ5500 battery module stores 5.46 kWh of energy.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;Power Cube has been designed with the Australian market in mind,&#8221; says Brooks Richard, Fox ESS&#8217;s Managing Director for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. &#8220;It delivers superior round-trip efficiency and a flexible range of capacities that align well with Australian household energy needs and available battery rebate tiers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">The federal battery rebate pays the full rate for the first 14 kWh of usable capacity. It pays a lower rate for 14 kWh to 28 kWh, an even lower rate for 28 kWh to 50 kWh, and nothing for anything above 50 kWh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Using five Power Cube modules (27.3 kWh), takes you to just under the 28 kWh threshold. Nine modules (49.14 kWh) takes you to just under the 50 kWh limit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/federal-rebate\/\"><span class=\"s1\">federal battery rebate guide<\/span><\/a> explains how the tiers work, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/federal-rebate\/calculator\/\"><span class=\"s1\">rebate calculator<\/span><\/a> estimates the rebate for each size.<\/p>\n<h2>Backup, Safety, And Cold Weather<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">The built-in gateway is rated at 63 A, which means that in many single-phase homes, the Power Cube can back up the whole switchboard instead of just certain circuits. Your installer can check if this covers your home&#8217;s needs. Remember, Fox ESS lists the three-phase models as &#8220;coming soon.&#8221; They need to be on the CEC\u2019s approved list before they qualify for the rebate.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Power Cube Installation<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fox ESS says that putting the inverter and batteries together in one unit makes installation easier for installers.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;Its integrated design simplifies installation, helping installers deliver a complete energy storage solution with greater ease,&#8221; Richard says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">To qualify for the solar rebate, your solar panels usually can\u2019t exceed 133% of the inverter\u2019s capacity, under rules set by installer accreditation body Solar Accreditation Australia. With a battery connected, those rules allow more panels, up to the inverter manufacturer\u2019s limit. Fox ESS sets that limit at 200%, so a 5 kW Power Cube can take up to 10 kW of panels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Local electricity networks set limits on the size of single-phase inverters. In Queensland, for example, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/grid-connection\/qld\/\">networks Energex and Ergon limit a single hybrid inverter to 10 kW<\/a>, so single-phase homes there can\u2019t connect the 12 kW model at its full rating under standard rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Your installer can tell you which Power Cube model and size your local network will allow.<\/p>\n<h2>Monitoring And Warranty<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fox Cloud 2.0 lets you monitor your system in real time and adjust settings remotely. It also has AI features.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To qualify for the federal battery rebate, a battery must be capable of joining a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Fox ESS&#8217;s datasheet lists Power Cube as VPP-ready.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Power Cube comes with a 10-year product warranty. The battery modules have their own warranty: 10 years or a set amount of energy throughput, whichever comes first, with at least 70% of capacity remaining at the end. The <a href=\"https:\/\/au.fox-ess.com\/download\/warranties\"><span class=\"s1\">throughput number changes<\/span><\/a> depending on how many batteries are stacked together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Fox ESS\u2019s battery warranty also requires you to register the system and connect it to their online portal when it is installed.<\/p>\n<h2>You Still Need A Good Installer<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">SolarQuotes in-house installer Anthony Bennett has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/foxess-good-value-watch-out-shocks\/\"><span class=\"s1\">inspected Fox ESS installations in the field<\/span><\/a>. In May 2026, he published photos of missing cable covers, mislabelled wiring and a unit sitting on a house brick. In the same article, he also wrote that Fox ESS \u201cappears to be doing the right things\u201d on support and training. Fox ESS initiated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/fox-ess-offers-free-covers-to-home-battery-owners\/\">a swift response to the cable cover issue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Power Cube\u2019s plug-together design means there are no cables between the inverter and the batteries. However, it still needs to be installed by a qualified professional. Anthony also reviewed the Power Cube\u2019s specifications.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cLooking over the electrical specs, the new Fox Power Cube range looks like good value, but nothing leaps out as revolutionary. The larger units are fan-cooled; they&#8217;re limited to 600 VDC for solar inputs, and they claim 122 A AC surge current for starting loads during an outage. This kind of spec is not dissimilar to Tesla Powerwall claiming <i>185 Locked Rotor Amps. <\/i>It indicates they&#8217;re pretty gutsy for an instant, but not a real contender for off-grid work,\u201d Anthony says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Things To Check Before You Buy<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">If you are comparing quotes that include a Power Cube, here are some things to consider:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li>Ask your installer whether the backup will cover your whole switchboard or only selected circuits, and which option suits your home.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Ask your installer what inverter size your local network will allow.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Consider how many modules you need based on your evening and overnight electricity use, and how this fits with the rebate tiers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you want to learn more about Fox ESS&#8217;s other products, check out SolarQuotes founder Finn Peacock&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/reviews\/fox-ess-review.html\"><span class=\"s1\">Fox ESS battery review<\/span><\/a>.
