{"id":12141,"date":"2017-06-05T06:12:40","date_gmt":"2017-06-04T19:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/?p=12141"},"modified":"2017-06-05T06:13:47","modified_gmt":"2017-06-04T19:43:47","slug":"solar-yarram-gippsland-mb0064","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/solar-yarram-gippsland-mb0064\/","title":{"rendered":"Gippsland Getting Solar Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_12142\" style=\"width: 646px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12142\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12142\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/solar-panels-yarram.jpg\" alt=\"Solar panels for Yarram, Victoria\" width=\"636\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/solar-panels-yarram.jpg 636w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/solar-panels-yarram-300x192.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12142\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gippsland solar PV projects | Image : <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=41643553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> Public Domain<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Victoria&#8217;s Government via the Latrobe Valley Authority is providing funds for a solar power system installation at Yarram Recreation Reserve and other PV projects.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D\u2019Ambrosio announced the $24,375 grant from the Latrobe Valley Authority\u2019s $20 million Community Facility Fund on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>93 solar panels will be installed on clubrooms at the reserve, which are used by a number of\u00a0 non-profit organisations and sporting clubs in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to visit Yarram to announce this grant \u2013 a practical initiative that will cut costs for the local clubs,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/yarram-recreation-reserve-goes-solar\/\">said<\/a> Minister D&#8217;Ambrosio.<\/p>\n<p>The solar power system is to be installed by local company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/installer-review\/gippsland-solar\/\">Gippsland Solar<\/a>, which has racked up more than 1,300 solar PV and 1,025 solar hot water system installations across its service area.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/lva.vic.gov.au\/community-facility-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Community Facility Fund<\/a> supports projects that improve the amenity and liveability of the LaTrobe Valley region.\u00a0 The Fund provides grants for Community Space Upgrades of up to $50,000 and up to $1 million for Town Infrastructure and Major Projects.<\/p>\n<p>Situated approximately 221 kilometres east of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/installers\/melbourne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Melbourne<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yarram.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yarram<\/a> is primarily a timber and dairy town that also acts as a service centre for coastal towns in Gippsland.<\/p>\n<p>According to recent data from Australia&#8217;s Clean Energy Regulator, Yaram&#8217;s postcode (3971) is home to 449 solar PV installs, with a collective capacity of 1,460kW. With approximately 4,000 people living in the postcode area; that works out to around 370 watts of solar capacity per person.<\/p>\n<h2>More Solar And Proposed Offshore Wind Farm For Gippsland<\/h2>\n<p>In other recent news from the Gippsland region, 150 renewable energy and new energy technology stakeholders participated in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/energy-roundtable-highlights-the-valleys-bright-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">roundtable<\/a> last week to discuss boosting jobs and economic growth in the region. As part of that event, Minister D&#8217;Ambrosio announced the release of a consultation paper to inform a Latrobe Valley New Energy Jobs and Investment Prospectus.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation paper can be <a href=\"http:\/\/lva.vic.gov.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/LV_Consult-Paper_web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">downloaded here<\/a> (PDF). Submissions close on July 14.<\/p>\n<p>A potential project presented at the New Energy Technology Roundtable was the ambitious $8 billion <a href=\"http:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/8-billion-offshore-wind-farm-proposed-for-victorian-waters-85089\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Star Of The South Energy Project<\/a>; a\u00a0 2GW, 250- turbine wind facility proposed for off the coast of Gippsland by Melbourne&#8217;s Offshore Energy.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Government is also calling for tenders in relation to the roll-out of the <a href=\"http:\/\/lva.vic.gov.au\/latrobe-valley-home-energy-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Latrobe Valley Home Energy Upgrades<\/a> program.
