However, if its legislation isn&#8217;t passed, Tasmanian households and businesses are facing increases of 15 per cent. In late May, the Legislative Council supported the legislation, with minor amendments.<\/p>\n<p>On June 23, the Tasmanian Economic Regulator approved Aurora&#8217;s standing offer electricity prices from July 1. The changes will result in a two per cent increase on annual residential bills. For small business customers, the daily supply charge will remain unchanged and usage charges will be lower.<\/p>\n<h2>South Australia<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Origin:<\/b> Households +15.9 per cent, Small businesses\u00a0 +15.3 per cent.<\/li>\n<li><b>Energy Australia:\u00a0<\/b> Households\/small business + 19.9 per cent<\/li>\n<li><b>AGL:<\/b> Households +18 per cent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Western Australia<\/h2>\n<p><strong>UPDATE: June 22<\/strong> &#8211; Western Australian Treasurer and Energy Minister Ben Wyatt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au\/Pages\/McGowan\/2017\/06\/Tariffs-fees-and-charges-to-assist-in-budget-repair.aspx\">has announced<\/a> an increase of $169 to the fixed charge component of electricity bills, or 10.9 per cent for the &#8216;representative household&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Minister warned increases <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perthnow.com.au\/news\/western-australia\/wa-electricity-prices-could-rise-15-per-cent-within-two-years-according-to-energy-minister-ben-wyatt\/news-story\/f6dba1b400844714ac2f0b9f7f233ec2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could be as much as 15%<\/a> over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n<h2>Northern Territory<\/h2>\n<p>It appears all is quiet on the northern front.<\/p>\n<h2>July Certainly Won&#8217;t Be A Gas<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to electricity rate rises across much of the nation, the new financial year will see many slugged with a substantial\u00a0 increase to gas prices that will hit hard on home heating costs.<\/p>\n<p>Common themes provided in reasons for energy price hikes have been an increase in wholesale electricity costs, an uncertain policy environment and gas supply\/cost issues &#8211; as we keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/australia-gas-renewables-mb003\/\">exporting gas<\/a>.
