Only four more new units are expected to come online by 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Nuclear energy is coming under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/three-mile-island-electricity-mb0055\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increasing pressure<\/a> from renewables, but unlike in countries such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/switzerland-nuclear-renewable-energy-mb0048\/\">Switzerland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/south-korea-nuclear-coal-mb0085\/\">South Korea<\/a>, it may not be on its last legs in the U.S. &#8211; yet.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. President Donald Trump recently vowed to usher in a &#8220;golden era of American energy dominance&#8221;, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFirst, we will begin to revive and expand our nuclear energy sector, which produces clean, renewable and emissions-free energy. A complete review of U.S. nuclear energy policy will help us find new ways to revitalize this crucial energy resource,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov\/articles\/president-trump-vows-usher-golden-era-american-energy-dominance\/#:~:text=On%20Thursday%2C%20President%20Donald%20J,energy%20policy%2C%E2%80%9D%20he%20declared.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he said<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>President Trump&#8217;s incorrect application of the word &#8220;renewable&#8221;
