The facility, located in the Delflzijler harbor area close to the city of Groningen,\u00a0 is expected to generate\u00a0 approximately 27 gigawatt hours of clean electricity annually. Commercial operations at Sunport Delfzijl began in January this year.<\/p>\n<p>The deal is the second agreement between the giant of search and Eneco. Also providing energy for\u00a0Eemshaven data center are the Delfzijl , Krammer and Bouwdokken wind parks.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Worldwide, we have already contracted the delivery of 2.7 GW of green electricity, which makes Google the world&#8217;s largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/news.enecogroup.com\/electricity-from-largest-dutch-solar-park-to-power-local-google-data-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Marc Oman, EU Energy Lead at Google.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13052\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/google-renewable-energy.jpg\" alt=\"Google renewable energy commitment\" width=\"700\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/google-renewable-energy.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/google-renewable-energy-300x158.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>First Norway Wind Power<\/h2>\n<p>Google&#8217;s parent company, Alphabet, also recently announced it expects to <span class=\"article-prime\"><span id=\"article-text\">receive its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-alphabet-norway-energy-idUSKBN19Q214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first wind power from Norway<\/a> by early September<\/span> from the 160MW <\/span><span id=\"article-text\">Tellenes wind farm, which will be the country&#8217;s largest wind facility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The deal with the facility&#8217;s developers, Zephyr and Norse Vind Energi, will see Google purchase all the output of the wind farm for 12 years and put to rest rumblings that wind power was struggling in the country.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The rumours of Norwegian wind\u2019s impending death are greatly exaggerated,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/ExiQFc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the CEO of Norwegian wind industry body Norwea, \u00d8yvind Isachsen, when the deal was announced last year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>100% Renewable Energy This Year<\/h2>\n<p>Late last year, Google announced it would achieve 100% renewable energy for its operations in 2017. At that point, it had signed 20 agreements totaling 2.6 gigawatts of renewable energy and said its purchasing commitments would result in infrastructure investments of more than $3.5 billion globally. Google <a href=\"https:\/\/environment.google\/projects\/environmental-report-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">says<\/a> it has been carbon neutral since 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Google also has solar power on-site at some of its facilities, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/cost\/\">solar panels<\/a> at its <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/QcV7u6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mountain View campus<\/a>. The arrays span across 7 buildings and 2 parking lots; with a collective capacity of 2MW. True to its pioneering nature, the first project (1.9MW) was\u00a0 commissioned in 2007.
