Victoria and Queensland were again second and third, comprising 22% and 20% of all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/quote\">solar quotes<\/a> respectively and maintaining their previous positions, but with significantly higher numbers. South Australia&#8217;s share also climbed, Western Australia and the Northern Territory&#8217;s proportions were reasonably static and we saw a drop in the ACT and Tasmania&#8217;s share.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14778\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pv-interest-australia.png\" alt=\"Solar power interest in Australia\" width=\"703\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pv-interest-australia.png 703w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/pv-interest-australia-300x182.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>PV System Size Preference<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Big systems continue to rein supreme among Australians who selected a desired capacity during the quoting process, with requests for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/systems\/5kW\/\">prices of 5kW+ solar<\/a> packages making up nearly 70% of the total nationally. Similar to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/aussii-solar-interest-australia-mb0173\/\"> report last month<\/a>, 41% of those submitting for quotes were unsure on system capacity and requested advice.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/system-size-preference.png\" alt=\"Solar panel system size\" width=\"703\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/system-size-preference.png 703w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/system-size-preference-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>System Purchase Intent<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Australians are still keen on getting solar panels onto their rooftops sooner rather than later. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/july-solar-feed-in-tariffs-mb0094\/\"> Increases in feed in tariffs<\/a> coupled with recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/electricity-costs-australia-july-mb0083\/\"> electricity price rises<\/a> may be playing a role, which are making the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/reduced-stc-price-mean-solar\/\"> economic case for solar even stronger<\/a>; even taking into account the decrease in STC values. August saw 74% expressing an intention of installing within three months, similar to July. 37% indicated a purchase intent of within 4 weeks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14781\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/solar-purchase-intent.png\" alt=\"Australian solar purchase intent\" width=\"702\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/solar-purchase-intent.png 702w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/solar-purchase-intent-300x192.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Battery-Ready System Requests<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Interest in battery-ready solar power systems crept up significantly, with 12.5% indicating this preference during August (up from 10% in July).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14776\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-ready-solar.png\" alt=\"Battery ready PV systems\" width=\"703\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-ready-solar.png 703w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-ready-solar-300x185.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Solar + Energy Storage Interest<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We saw some backing off on interest in installing solar power + energy storage concurrently. In July we recorded 6% wanting solar + battery quotes and in August, this dropped back to under 5%. Given the uptick in battery-ready system requests, this may indicate not so much a decline in interest in storage, but more Australians taking a wait-and-see approach.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14780\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/solar-and-battery-storage.png\" alt=\"Solar + battery storage systems\" width=\"706\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/solar-and-battery-storage.png 706w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/solar-and-battery-storage-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 100vw, 706px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note: during our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/quote\/\">solar quoting<\/a> process, we display a flag when PV + batteries are selected indicating approximate cost before the submitter can proceed. This is to help ensure the enquirer is seriously interested in solar + storage. A \u201cbattery-ready\u201d system option is also offered at this point as an alternative.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Battery Capacity<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As with solar panel systems, Australians are wanting large storage capacity. The most popular size recorded during August was for 10kwh+ battery systems, comprising nearly 44% where a capacity was indicated.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14777\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-system-size.png\" alt=\"Battery system capacity preference\" width=\"702\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-system-size.png 702w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-system-size-300x191.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Battery Storage Application<\/h2>\n<p>Close to 55% of Australians requesting battery quotes intend using it for both backup and minimising grid power consumption purposes &#8211; that&#8217;s up around 10% on July.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14775\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-application.png\" alt=\"Battery storage application\" width=\"704\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-application.png 704w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/battery-application-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Electricity Bills<\/h2>\n<p>As was the case in July, 46% of Australians indicated they were paying between $500 and $1000 quarterly for mains power.\u00a0 Nearly 7% were unsure of their average quarterly bill amount.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14779\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/quarterly-electricity-bill.png\" alt=\"Australian quarterly electricity bills\" width=\"703\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/quarterly-electricity-bill.png 703w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/quarterly-electricity-bill-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it for this issue of the auSSII report.
