To create the shape of a deer, blue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/photovoltaic\/monocrystalline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multicrystalline (polycrystalline) solar panels<\/a> will be set among black <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/photovoltaic\/monocrystalline\/\">monocrystalline modules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will be built as part of the\u00a0 Jeleniog\u00f3rski Renewable Energy Cluster.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Renewable energy clusters are the future of the energy sector. They are of great importance in terms of improving the air quality in the Jelenia G\u00f3ra Valley, but also due to the reduction of the county&#8217;s operating costs,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/polskisolar.com\/2017\/12\/19\/pierwsza-designerska-elektrownia-fotowoltaiczna-w-polsce\/\">said<\/a> (translated) Jacek Ry\u0144ski, vice president of the Polish Solar Holding Foundation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently the city is plagued by smog during the winter months, largely the result of coal-fired heating.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not the first solar farm in the world to have panels arranged in the shape of an animal (excluding Mickey Mouse) &#8211; one we reported on previously was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/panda-power-plant-solar-mb0109\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Panda solar plant<\/a> in Datong, Shanxi province, China.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18189\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18189\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18189\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/panda-solar-farm.jpg\" alt=\"Panda solar farm\" width=\"700\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/panda-solar-farm.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/panda-solar-farm-300x157.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-18189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image: Panda Green Energy Group Limited<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The panda didn&#8217;t quite look like the artist&#8217;s impression, so perhaps Polski Solar may do better.<\/p>\n<h2>Poland And PV<\/h2>\n<p>The uptake of solar panels has been rather sluggish in Poland.<\/p>\n<p>Around 101 MW of new PV systems were connected to the grid\u00a0 in 2016, with nearly three quarters of this capacity being residential and commercial systems. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pv-magazine.com\/2017\/05\/19\/residential-and-commercial-pv-drive-solar-growth-in-poland-cumulative-capacity-nears-200-mw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">By May<\/a> of last year, total cumulative solar capacity in the country had reached nearly 200MW.<\/p>\n<p>Coal is still king of the power sector of Poland &#8211; and also the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n<p>The country has a renewable energy target of 15% by 2020, but there have been doubts as to whether that will be achieved. In a report published last March, <a href=\"http:\/\/psew.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/2020-Renewable-Energy-Target-Realisation-Forecast-for-Poland.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Ecofys projected<\/a> a range between 10.0% and 13.8% overall renewable energy share in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>However, a recently approved scheme may help solar power and other forms of renewable energy along. In December 2017, the European Commission approved granting of State support to producers of electricity from renewable sources.<\/p>\n<p>Small installations with a capacity of up to 500kW will be eligible to receive a feed-in tariff and larger installations will receive a premium on top of the market price of electricity. The scheme will be financed by a surcharge on electricity consumers and there will be some breaks for large energy consumers.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Polish support scheme will increase the share of green energy in Poland&#8217;s energy mix and help the country&#8217;s energy transition,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/europa.eu\/rapid\/press-release_IP-17-5261_en.htm\">said<\/a> Commissioner Margrethe Vestager. &#8220;It will also preserve the global competitiveness of companies that are heavily energy dependent.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The scheme has a budget of around \u20ac9.4 billion (around AUD $14.41 billion).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 10MW solar farm to be built in Jelenia G\u00f3ra will have panels arranged in the shape of a city symbol &#8211;
