The battery stacks were then installed locally in around 200 ZBM2 battery tank sets produced at the former factory in North America and tested.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what a ZBM2 battery stack looks like:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19934\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/redflow-battery-stack.jpg\" alt=\"Redflow ZBM2 battery stack\" width=\"700\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/redflow-battery-stack.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/redflow-battery-stack-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The battery stack is the critical component of the zinc-bromine flow battery, containing electrodes that charge the battery by depositing zinc on a membrane and discharge it by reversing that process.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOur pre-delivery tests have confirmed that these complete batteries, using Thai-made stacks and existing battery tank sets, perform to standard, so we are now scheduling deliveries to start supplying outstanding back orders,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/redflow.com\/first-redflow-thai-stack-batteries-ready-customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Redflow CEO Richard Aird.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One of the finished products ready to ship:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19938\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/redflow-zbm2.jpg\" alt=\"Redflow ZBM2 ready for delivery\" width=\"569\" height=\"524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/redflow-zbm2.jpg 569w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/redflow-zbm2-300x276.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 10 kWh capacity ZBM2 is primarily used in industrial, commercial, telecommunications and grid-scale energy storage applications. Multiple units can be connected together to boost capacity to the megawatt-hour range.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Redflow also offers a containerised Large Scale Battery (LSB) platform featuring up to 45 ZBM2 batteries and six 12kW Victron Quattro 48\/15000 battery inverter\/chargers. Base64 has an additional 20kWp of solar panels installed elsewhere in the precinct.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 ZBM2 also forms the basis of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/redflows-zinc-bromide-zcell-battery-may-have-the-edge-over-lithium-ion\/\">Redflow\u2019s Z-Cell<\/a> battery system, the company&#8217;s home\/small commercial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/comparison-table\/\">solar battery storage<\/a> solution.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19937\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/zcell-battery-redflow.jpg\" alt=\"Redflow Z-Cell home battery\" width=\"700\" height=\"464\" world&#8217;s smallest commercially available zinc-bromine flow batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Redflow says it will continue to assemble, test and deliver limited quantities of ZBM2 batteries with Thai-produced battery stacks until the facility in Thailand starts end-to-end manufacturing and testing of complete batteries, which is expected to occur by June.<\/p>\n<p>While Redflow has copped some flak for manufacturing overseas rather than in Australia, the company has previously said Thailand offered the manufacturing expertise, lower labour costs, logistics and favourable tax treatment it needed to
