{"id":20492,"date":"2018-04-02T08:12:50","date_gmt":"2018-04-01T21:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/?p=20492"},"modified":"2018-04-02T08:14:08","modified_gmt":"2018-04-01T21:44:08","slug":"redflow-battery-thailand-mb0528","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/redflow-battery-thailand-mb0528\/","title":{"rendered":"First Fully Thai-Made Redflow Batteries Roll Off Production Line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20494\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/redflow-zbm2-factory.jpg\" alt=\"Redflow battery manufacturing in Thailand\" width=\"700\" height=\"458\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/redflow-zbm2-factory.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/redflow-zbm2-factory-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Australian energy storage company Redflow says it is on schedule to start commercial production of complete ZBM2 zinc-bromine flow batteries in Thailand by June.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During a recent inspection of the company&#8217;s new factory in Thailand, Redflow directors observed factory staff fully assemble two ZBM2 batteries, which are now being subjected to post-production acceptance testing.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We are impressed by the commitment of the on-site team to producing high-quality components,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/redflow.com\/redflow-board-pleased-by-thai-factory-progress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Redflow Chairman Brett Johnson. \u201cThe current production of battery stacks and this preliminary demonstration of full battery assembly means that we remain on track to commence production of complete batteries in Thailand by June.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last month, the company announced it had completed testing of the first ZBM2 batteries using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/redflow-zbm2-battery-deliveries-mb0503\/\">battery stacks produced by the factory<\/a> and was using those to assemble ZBM2 batteries in Brisbane to start fulfilling back orders. The ZBM2&#8217;s stack contains electrodes that charge the battery by depositing zinc on a membrane and discharge it using a reversal of that process.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Redflow batteries were manufactured in North America. The company said it made a decision to shift manufacturing in order to remain competitive and Thailand offered the necessary expertise, lower labour costs, logistics and favourable tax treatment it required. The move also places it closer to its primary markets in Australia, Oceania and southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 ZBM2, which offers 10 kWh of usable storage capacity, is the world&#8217;s smallest commercially available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/flowbatteries.html\">flow battery<\/a>.
