{"id":21905,"date":"2018-05-30T07:58:50","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T21:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/?p=21905"},"modified":"2018-06-07T14:22:04","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T03:52:04","slug":"lyon-jera-fluence-storage-mb0605","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/lyon-jera-fluence-storage-mb0605\/","title":{"rendered":"Lyon, JERA and Fluence Formalise Energy Storage Collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21906\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lyon-battery-storage.jpg\" alt=\"Lyon, Jera, Fluence - Battery storage\" width=\"700\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lyon-battery-storage.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lyon-battery-storage-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lyon Group, JERA and Fluence have banded together to pursue further utility-scale battery storage development and investment opportunities in the Asia Pacific, including Australia.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The collaboration will see Lyon acting as project developer, JERA an investor and Fluence will be the energy storage provider.<\/p>\n<p>Tranche 1 projects in Australia under previously forged relationships between the trio and scheduled to commence construction in the coming months include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyoninfrastructure.com.au\/projects\/cape-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Cape York<\/a>, Queensland (55 MWac solar + 20MW\/80MWh storage)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyoninfrastructure.com.au\/projects\/nowingi-solar-storage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nowingi<\/a>, Victoria (253 MWac solar + 80MW\/320MWh battery storage)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyoninfrastructure.com.au\/projects\/riverland-solar-storage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Riverland<\/a>, South Australia (253 MWac solar\u00a0 + 100MW\/400MWh battery storage)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stage 2 of the Riverland project, which will be built near Morgan, will see up to a further 77 MWac of solar capacity added.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLyon\u2019s collaboration agreement with JERA and Fluence is a major step toward a future where the world\u2019s electricity systems meet consumers\u2019 needs securely and reliably with renewable power,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyoninfrastructure.com.au\/lyon-jera-fluence\/\">said<\/a> Chairman of Lyon Group, David Green.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lyon says it is developing Australia\u2019s biggest pipeline of large-scale solar PV and battery storage projects, consisting of more than 1,700MW of solar capacity and more than 1,000MW of battery storage. Lyon is no newcomer to the solar power + storage scene. Back in 2012, it began the development of Lakeland Solar Storage, which was subsequently sold to Conergy.<\/p>\n<p>JERA is an equal joint venture of Japan&#8217;s TEPCO Fuel &amp; Power Incorporated and Chubu Electric Power Company. JERA has approximately <span id=\"hs_cos_wrapper_post_body\" class=\"hs_cos_wrapper hs_cos_wrapper_meta_field hs_cos_wrapper_type_rich_text\" data-hs-cos-general-type=\"meta_field\" data-hs-cos-type=\"rich_text\">66 GW of power generation capacity in Japan and approximately 8GW overseas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fluence, a\u00a0 Siemens and AES venture, brings all battery-related activities previously undertaken by the parent companies under the one banner. <span id=\"hs_cos_wrapper_post_body\" class=\"hs_cos_wrapper hs_cos_wrapper_meta_field hs_cos_wrapper_type_rich_text\" data-hs-cos-general-type=\"meta_field\" data-hs-cos-type=\"rich_text\">Fluence says it has deployed or been awarded more than 500 MW of energy storage projects in 16 countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span id=\"hs_cos_wrapper_post_body\" class=\"hs_cos_wrapper hs_cos_wrapper_meta_field hs_cos_wrapper_type_rich_text\" data-hs-cos-general-type=\"meta_field\" data-hs-cos-type=\"rich_text\">&#8220;More efficient electricity networks, more low-cost clean energy, and the highest reliability for consumers &#8212; these are the benefits we will be working to deliver with JERA across its operating fleet and through its and Lyon\u2019s projects in Australia,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fluenceenergy.com\/fluence-jera-lyon-group-to-collaborate-on-storage-opportunities-in-asia-pacific\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Jan Teichmann, VP of Global Markets for Fluence.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"hs_cos_wrapper_post_body\" class=\"hs_cos_wrapper hs_cos_wrapper_meta_field hs_cos_wrapper_type_rich_text\" data-hs-cos-general-type=\"meta_field\" data-hs-cos-type=\"rich_text\">Fluence has already made its mark in Australia. In March this year, a consortium comprising Spotless, AusNet Services, EnergyAustralia and Fluence inked an energy storage deal with the Victorian Government and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
