Interest in 5kW systems continued its downward trend, dropping to 33% (36% in July). Just under 31% of all quote submissions indicated guidance was needed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/how-does-solar-power-work\/how-much-power-do-i-need\/\">sizing a solar power system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/system-size-preference.png\" alt=\"IMAGE - Solar power system size choice August 2018\" width=\"700\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/system-size-preference.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/system-size-preference-300x187.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Intended Purchase Timeframe<\/h2>\n<p>Australians appeared a little keener to have solar panels installed immediately, with 18% indicating a timeframe of straight away compared to 16% in July and 17% in June. Generally speaking, there was a greater sense of urgency in having a system installed sooner rather than later, with 84% indicating a desire to do so any time from right now to three months &#8211; up quite a bit on July (81%), June (79%), May (77%) and April (75%).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24099\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/solar-purchase-intent.png\" alt=\"Solar energy system purchase timeframe August 2018\" width=\"700\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/solar-purchase-intent.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/solar-purchase-intent-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Quality Vs. Price<\/h2>\n<p>Not much changes when it comes to issues of price vs. quality, with approximately 79% wanting quotes for systems that were \u201ca good mix of quality and price\u201d in August. The \u201ctop quality (most expensive)\u201d option was again selected by approximately 13% and \u201cgood budget system\u201d interest hovered around the 8% mark. Price August 2018\" width=\"700\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/price-vs-quality.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/price-vs-quality-300x193.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Battery Ready Solar Interest<\/h2>\n<p>Battery-ready system interest inched up again in August to a bit over 30% compared to July&#8217;s just under 30% and June\u2019s 29%. We ask a question on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/quote\"> quoting form<\/a> regarding future interest in battery storage systems this can influence system design.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24093\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/battery-ready-solar.png\" alt=\"Battery Ready Solar Interest - August 2018\" width=\"700\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/battery-ready-solar.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/battery-ready-solar-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Solar + Battery Installations<\/h2>\n<p>Interest in having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/comparison-table\/\">solar battery storage<\/a> installed at the same time as solar panels wound back to a significant degree in August, to around 7%. For several months prior it had been at approximately 10%. The reduction in interest was very noticeable in Victoria &#8211; in July it was 11% and in August 6.5%. This may have to do with the nature of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-solar-homes-rebate\/\">Victorian Solar Homes Rebate<\/a>, but there was also a significant reduction in New South Wales.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24098\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/solar-battery-interest.png\" alt=\"Concurrent solar + battery storage installation - August 2018\" width=\"700\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/solar-battery-interest.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/solar-battery-interest-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Battery Storage Capacity<\/h2>\n<p>During August, 30% of submitters wanting batteries and with a capacity in mind requested pricing on 10kWh+ storage systems, well down on July&#8217;s 38%.
