Based on 2016 Census data, that works out to be around 25% of all households in the state.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8221; When it comes to energy, Liberal politicians in Canberra like to talk and bluster and dither and propose endless complicated reforms that achieve nothing,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DanielAndrewsMP\/videos\/308655206578616\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews. &#8220;Down here, we prefer to just get things done.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Around 254MW of the 928MW capacity will be solar farms.<\/p>\n<p>The projects are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Global Power Generation: Berrybank Wind Farm\u00a0 (Geelong region) &#8211; 180MW.<\/li>\n<li>Canadian Solar: Carwarp Solar Farm (Mildura region) &#8211; 121.6MW.<\/li>\n<li>Enel Green Power Australia: Cohuna Solar Farm (Kerang region) &#8211; 34.2MW.<\/li>\n<li>Tilt Renewables : Dundonnell Wind Farm (Warrnambool region) &#8211; 336MW.<\/li>\n<li>Acciona: Mortlake South Wind Farm (Mortlake region) &#8211; 157.5MW.<\/li>\n<li>Fotowatio Renewable Ventures: Winton Solar Farm (Benalla region) &#8211; 98.8MW<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Combined, the projects are expected to create more than 900 jobs, including 270 apprenticeships and traineeships. The reverse auction was an element of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-renewable-energy-target-mb0259\/\">Victorian Renewable Energy Target<\/a> (VRET). More information on each of the successful projects and the reverse auction <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.vic.gov.au\/renewable-energy\/victorian-renewable-energy-auction-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">can be viewed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cRenewable energy creates jobs, drives growth, and protects our environment \u2013 and most importantly, helps drive down power prices for Victorian households and businesses,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/more-renewable-energy-to-drive-down-power-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D\u2019Ambrosio.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Great Example Of Political Leadership : CEC<\/h2>\n<p>Clean Energy Council Chief Executive Kane Thornton welcomed the announcement.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As coal-fired power plants continue to retire from the system, the 928 MW of new renewable energy which will be built under the Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) will help to push down power prices while creating hundreds of regional jobs and $1.1 billion of investment,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleanenergycouncil.org.au\/news\/2018\/September\/victorian-leadership-wind-solar-jobs-power-prices.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> Mr. Thornton.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Brushing Off The Brown Coal Dust : Climate Council<\/h2>\n<p>The Climate Council said the state was &#8220;doing its bit&#8221; to address pollution and climate change, while at a Federal level, Australia\u2019s climate and energy policy missing in action<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This is a major boost for what was once the nation\u2019s Brown Coal Capital,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatecouncil.org.au\/resources\/victoria-commits-to-statewide-renewables-rollout\/\"> said<\/a> Climate Council Acting CEO Dr Martin Rice. \u201cRenewables are the cheapest form of new energy generation, so for Victoria to embrace clean energy such as wind and solar, transitioning away from ageing, polluting and inefficient fossil fuels such as coal, just makes economic sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>A Bright Day For Renewables : Solar Citizens<\/h2>\n<p>Solar Citizens was likewise impressed with the announcement.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It\u2019s great to see the Victorian Government creating jobs and lowering power bills in one fell swoop by backing clean energy projects,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarcitizens.org.au\/media_releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Joseph Scales, Solar Citizens\u2019 National Director.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>VIC Battery Rebate Announced <a name=\"#battery-rebate\"><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>At the small-scale level and in addition to the recently announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-solar-homes-rebate\/\">VIC Solar Homes rebate<\/a>, the Andrews Labor Government has committed to providing generous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/cheaper-electricity-with-solar-batteries-for-10000-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rebates on batteries<\/a> for 10,000 Victorian households with solar power systems. One catch is this will only happen if Labor is returned to power after the November election. Another catch:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The battery program will be available in growth areas where there are already a large number of homes with solar panels. &#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Under the scheme, a 50 per cent rebate on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/comparison-table\/\">solar battery storage<\/a> would be available, capped at $4,838 per household in the first year, then gradually reducing to $3,714 by 2026.<\/p>\n<p>While on the topic of battery incentives, across the border in South Australia the Marshall Liberal Government announced a generous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/sa-home-battery-subsidy-mb0736\/\">battery subsidy for SA<\/a> a few days ago &#8211;
