 &#8212; Canadian Solar Product Warranty: Now 12 Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31111 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canadian-solar-scoop.jpg\" alt=\"Canadian solar product warranty increased\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canadian-solar-scoop.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canadian-solar-scoop-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canadian-solar-scoop-768x402.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canadian-solar-scoop-1024x536.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today I spoke with Michael Rush, the head of Sales and Marketing for Canadian Solar in Australia.\u00a0 Well, I say I spoke to him today, but you&#8217;re actually reading this during my tomorrow &#8212; so my today is now your yesterday.\u00a0 I guess time really is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=q2nNzNo_Xps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">wibbly wobbly<\/a> thing.<\/p>\n<p>He told me some interesting things.\u00a0 They included:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Canadian Solar panels sold in Australia are now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/half-cut-solar-cells-panels\/\">half cut<\/a> or shingle.<sup class='endnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/canadian-solar-warranty-australia\/#en-31010-1' id='enref-31010-1' onclick='return hhEndnotes_show(31010)'>1<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n<li>They have a large Australian workforce of 50+ people.\u00a0 I was told this shows they have a strong long-term commitment to the country.<\/li>\n<li>The company will soon be providing Canadian Solar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/double-glass-glass-glass-bifacial-panels-hell\/\">double glass<\/a> panels here.<\/li>\n<li>They now have an office in Toowoomba, one of the greatest bastions of civilization humanity has ever created.\u00a0 However, the White Pages doesn&#8217;t give a phone number for the Toowoomba office &#8212; they had phones in Toowoomba when I left, I swear!<sup class='endnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/canadian-solar-warranty-australia\/#en-31010-2' id='enref-31010-2' onclick='return hhEndnotes_show(31010)'>2<\/a><\/sup> &#8212; so you&#8217;ll have to go through the Melbourne office to contact them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But the most important question I had for Michael Rush of Canadian Solar was whether or not he knew my Canadian girlfriend.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t, but I shouldn&#8217;t have been surprised as she does avoid the limelight more than the average <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PtMU8nvZzOs?t=176\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">billionaire, bikini supermodel, astrophysicist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The second most important question I had was whether or not Canadian Solar would increase the product warranty on their solar panels.\u00a0 The answer was..<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;YES.&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>They had just extended it from 10 to 12 years and this applies to Canadian Solar panels being installed today.<\/p>\n<p>Their product warranty is now superior to those of other competitively priced tier one panels.\u00a0 This add some weight to Michael Rush&#8217;s assertion that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/canadian-solar-inc-review.html\">Canadian Solar panels<\/a> are,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;the best value for money available.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_31082\" style=\"width: 815px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31082\" class=\"size-full wp-image-31082\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canada.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"805\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canada.jpg 805w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canada-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/canada-768x507.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 805px) 100vw, 805px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-31082\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">While most of their production is done overseas, Canadian Solar still has 500 MW of manufacturing capacity in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3gHYm112ByQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Canada<\/a>. (Image: It was from Google Maps, but they probably don&#8217;t want it now.)<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Solar Panel Product Warranty Vs Performance Warranty<\/h2>\n<p>Solar panels come with two warranties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Product Warranty:\u00a0 That covers defects in materials and workpersonship and is 10 years or more, &amp;&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>The Performance Warranty:\u00a0 This covers the output of the panels over time.\u00a0 It is normally 25 years but can be 30 years for double glass panels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I have argued that under Australian Consumer Law product warranties and performance warranties are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/warranty-and-law\/\">effectively the same<\/a> for homeowners.\u00a0 Despite this, it is still a good thing when a manufacturer raises their product warranty because it indicates they have confidence in their panels.\u00a0 All else was equal I would definitely recommend a panel with a longer product warranty.<\/p>\n<p><em>Full Disclosure:\u00a0 Canadian Solar gave me a pen.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t look as expensive as the one Sonnen gave me, but it may be better value for money.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I spoke with Michael Rush, the head of Sales and Marketing for Canadian Solar in Australia.\u00a0 Well, I say I spoke to him today, but you&#8217;re actually reading this during my tomorrow &#8212; so my today is now your yesterday.\u00a0 I guess time really is a wibbly wobbly thing.
