Err, Subsidy &#8211; Round Two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-31235\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/solar-victoria-rebate-1024x538.jpg\" alt=\"Solar Victoria - rebate\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/solar-victoria-rebate-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/solar-victoria-rebate-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/solar-victoria-rebate-768x403.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/solar-victoria-rebate.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Government is warming up its Solar Homes Package engine &#8211; and households in Victoria wanting to take advantage of the generous rebate (now a subsidy) should do too.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The initiative kicks off again from July 1, offering up to $2,225<sup class='endnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-solar-rebate-subsidy-mb1100\/#en-31234-1' id='enref-31234-1' onclick='return hhEndnotes_show(31234)'>1<\/a><\/sup> to assist with the purchase of a solar power system, or 50% of the system price (whichever is lowest).<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the first phase of the program, from July 1 it won&#8217;t be a rebate for solar PV but a subsidy<sup class='endnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-solar-rebate-subsidy-mb1100\/#en-31234-2' id='enref-31234-2' onclick='return hhEndnotes_show(31234)'>2<\/a><\/sup> that will come off the up-front cost of a system and the application process will occur via a new online portal.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/solar-homes-rolling-out-to-even-more-victorians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> released yesterday, in 2019\/20 the program will provide financial support for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>40,000 rooftop solar systems on homes and community-owned housing<\/li>\n<li>2,000 solar power systems on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/Solar-rebates\/Solar-for-rental-properties\">rental properties<\/a><\/li>\n<li>6,000 solar hot water systems<\/li>\n<li>1,000 battery systems for households with solar panels already installed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some points to note:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Victorian Government will be releasing a set number of home solar rebates each month<sup class='endnote'><a href='https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-solar-rebate-subsidy-mb1100\/#en-31234-3' id='enref-31234-3' onclick='return hhEndnotes_show(31234)'>3<\/a><\/sup>, so it&#8217;s quite possible it will be oversubscribed in the first month\/s.<\/li>\n<li>The 1,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/rebates\/\">battery rebates<\/a> will only be available in &#8220;targeted areas&#8221; &#8211; more on this below.<\/li>\n<li>You can still also get the federal &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/rebate\/\">solar rebate<\/a>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Next PV Rush Begins<\/h2>\n<p>Given the previous popularity of the Solar Homes Package, if you&#8217;re a home owner who is very eager to get a solar power system installed reasonably soon, it&#8217;s time to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/victorian-solar-rebate.html\">find out more<\/a> about the rebate\/subsidy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/solar101.html\">do some research on systems<\/a>, check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/installers\/reviews\/\">installer reviews<\/a> and get quotes now in preparation for July 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> if you are requested by a company to provide a deposit or sign a contract, Solar Victoria has previously advised you should be sure any contract is very clear on the issue of refunds\/release if for some reason you are deemed ineligible for the program. It&#8217;s also very important that you do not proceed with installation until you have your eligibility number from Solar Victoria. If you install before doing so, you won&#8217;t get the rebate\/subsidy.<\/p>\n<h2>Interest-Free Loans For Solar Panels<\/h2>\n<p>A new interest-free loan of up to $2,225, repaid over 4 years, will also be available for solar power systems. So, if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/cost\/\">the price of a system<\/a> is less than $4,450 &#8211; which is around the cost of a good quality 4kW-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/systems\/5kw\/\">5kW installation<\/a> &#8211; there will be no up-front cost (with the rebate included). The loan option will appear as part of the application process if an applicant is deemed eligible. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/Solar-rebates\/Interest-free-loans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Solar Battery Rebate<\/h2>\n<p>The battery rebate will be up to $4,838 and targeted towards growth areas with high solar installation rates. More information on the battery rebate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/Solar-rebates\/Solar-batteries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">can be viewed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Installers, Take Note<\/h2>\n<p>For installers, Solar Victoria has published a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/-\/media\/Solar\/Documents\/notice-to-market-180619.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Notice to Market<\/a> that should be carefully reviewed as it details all the requirements for businesses wishing to participate in the scheme &#8211; which will be pretty much every PV installer in Victoria. Among the changes are new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/victoria-smart-inverters-mb1000\/\">requirements for inverters<\/a> and all businesses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/mandatory-solar-retailer\/\">must be CEC Approved Solar Retailers<\/a> by November 1 this year (major retailers in the top 150 will need to be ASRs by July 1).
