Preference for this size range has grown every month this year, bar one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January &#8211; 58%<\/li>\n<li>February &#8211; 60%<\/li>\n<li>March &#8211; 63%<\/li>\n<li>April &#8211; 66%<\/li>\n<li>May &#8211; 68%<\/li>\n<li>June &#8211; 67%<\/li>\n<li>July &#8211; 69%<\/li>\n<li>August &#8211; 72%<\/li>\n<li>September &#8211; 73%<\/li>\n<li>October &#8211; 74%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The reasons behind the interest are simple &#8211; assuming suitable roof space, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/solar-bigger-better\/\">bigger solar systems provide better bang for buck<\/a> in most scenarios and the cost of solar has continued to drop.<\/p>\n<p>At the other end of the scale, interest in 3kW systems is almost non-existent now, with just 2% selecting this system size and a similar proportion choosing 4kW.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35389\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/system-size-preference-1911.png\" alt=\"Solar power system size preference - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/system-size-preference-1911.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/system-size-preference-1911-300x187.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>System Purchasing Timeframe<\/h2>\n<p>Interest in buying a system right now also again picked up in November, with 26% ready to purchase straight away; compared to 22% in October, 21% in September and 19% in August. Perhaps driving some of this interest is the misconception the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/solar-rebate-not-ending\/\">solar rebate is ending &#8211; it isn&#8217;t<\/a>. However, the national subsidy is reducing on January 1 (how much of an impact it will have on pricing remains to be seen) as is the level of support offered under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/victorian-solar-rebate.html\">Victoria&#8217;s solar rebate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In November, close to 89% were considering buying a system any time from now to within 3 months. (86% in October, September 87%, August\/July 84%)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-purchase-intent-1911.png\" alt=\"Solar purchasing intention - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-purchase-intent-1911.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-purchase-intent-1911-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Quality Vs. Price<\/h2>\n<p>Something that has changed little are preferences relating to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/cost\/\">cost of solar power<\/a> and quality. 12% wanted pricing on a &#8220;top quality&#8221; (most expensive system) in November, 8% a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/budget-solar-buying-tips\/\">good budget system<\/a> and approximately 80% were interested in a system offering a balance between quality and cost.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35387\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-price-quality-1912.png\" alt=\"Solar power system cost vs. quality - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-price-quality-1912.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-price-quality-1912-300x193.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Advanced Energy Consumption Monitoring<\/h2>\n<p>64% indicated interest in consumption monitoring &#8211; the lowest level in a few months; but not by much. While this feature adds to the cost of a system, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/good-solar-guide\/monitoring-systems\/\">advanced solar monitoring<\/a> is a wise option as it not only alerts to potential issues, but also helps identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency and therefore saving more money on electricity costs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35386\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-consumption-monitoring-1912.png\" alt=\"Solar Power System Consumption Monitoring - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-consumption-monitoring-1912.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-consumption-monitoring-1912-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Battery Ready Solar Power<\/h2>\n<p>There was a drop in &#8220;battery-ready&#8221; solar interest in November (22%) compared to October and September (24%). Just about all solar power systems are battery-ready ( some more than others), but this figure provides some indication of what people are thinking in terms of acquiring a battery down the track. Asking this question also helps prospective installers with system design.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35381\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/battery-ready-solar-1912.png\" alt=\"Battery-ready solar power - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/battery-ready-solar-1912.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/battery-ready-solar-1912-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Solar + Concurrent Battery Installation<\/h2>\n<p>Just over 5% of Australians using the SolarQuotes service in November were interested in having a battery installed at the same time as their panels. The figure has changed little in recent months\u00a0 &#8211; 5.6% in October, 5.5% in September and August.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the up-front cost of batteries putting energy storage out of reach of many, PV + storage doesn&#8217;t provide the return solar-only does. That said, batteries are probably looking pretty good to a bunch of unfortunate folks up in Sydney that were without power for days after recent severe weather.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35385\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-battery-interest-1912.png\" alt=\"Solar + concurrent battery installation - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-battery-interest-1912.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/solar-battery-interest-1912-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Solar Battery Sizing<\/h2>\n<p>Where quotes including energy storage were requested and capacity specified, 18% were interested in 1-5kWh capacity, 41% in 5 &#8211; 10kWh and around the same in 10kWh+. Last month, just over 52% of all quote requests including energy storage wanted advice on battery sizing, compared to 56% in October and September.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35382\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/battery-size-preference-1912.png\" alt=\"Battery capacity preference - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/battery-size-preference-1912.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/battery-size-preference-1912-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Battery Use &#8211; Primary Application<\/h2>\n<p>Again in November, approximately 4% wanted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/comparison-table\/\">home battery<\/a> primarily as backup, while 40% focused on minimising grid electricity consumption (43% in October). 56%\u00a0 were interested in a battery for both applications.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-35383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/intended-battery-application-1912.png\" alt=\"Intended solar battery application - November 2019\" width=\"700\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/intended-battery-application-1912.png 700w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/intended-battery-application-1912-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Quarterly Electricity Bills<\/h2>\n<p>48% of those who knew what they were paying for electricity indicated bills of between $500 and $1,000 a quarter on average &#8211;
