{"id":39997,"date":"2020-05-25T07:51:08","date_gmt":"2020-05-24T21:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/?p=39997"},"modified":"2024-10-04T07:08:34","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T21:38:34","slug":"renewables-investment-victoria-1536","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/renewables-investment-victoria-1536\/","title":{"rendered":"Another $15.3 Million For Renewables And Energy Efficiency In Victoria"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_39998\" style=\"width: 1210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39998\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39998\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/renewables-investment-victoria.jpg\" alt=\"Renewable energy in Victoria\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/renewables-investment-victoria.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/renewables-investment-victoria-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/renewables-investment-victoria-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/renewables-investment-victoria-768x403.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-39998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image: <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/photos\/solar-cell-solar-panel-photovoltaic-4045029\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Bru-nO<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Victoria&#8217;s Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change and Solar Homes Lily D\u2019Ambrosio has unveiled a new package of renewable investments and regional renewable energy roadmaps.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Designed to build on the state&#8217;s popular Solar Homes rebate initiative, the new $15.3 million investment package consists of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$10.3 million for energy efficiency and affordability improvements for sports clubs and community halls &#8211; this include solar panel installations on public buildings on crown land.<\/li>\n<li>$4 million to fund energy efficiency upgrades for hot water systems and lighting in high-rise public housing\u00a0 properties across the state.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0$1 million for assisting communities deliver renewable energy projects; including installing solar panels at child care centres, community buildings or health facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The latter, which was actually announced on Thursday, will occur under round 5 of the New Energy Jobs Fund (NEJF).<\/p>\n<h2>Regional Renewable Energy Roadmaps Released<\/h2>\n<p>The announcement coincided with the release of renewable energy roadmaps for each of Victoria&#8217;s five regions, which can be viewed here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.vic.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0026\/464723\/Roadmap-BarwonSouthWestFinal.pdf\">Barwon South West<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.vic.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0027\/464724\/Roadmap-GrampiansFinal.pdf\">Grampians<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.vic.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0028\/464725\/Roadmap-LoddonMalleeFinal.pdf\">Loddon Mallee<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.vic.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0030\/464727\/Roadmap-GippslandFinal.pdf\">Gippsland<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.vic.gov.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0031\/464728\/Roadmap-Hume.pdf\">Hume<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each roadmap provides region-specific information to business, industry and communities seeking to establish or boost new energy technology development, manufacturing or renewable energy generation.<\/p>\n<h2>Solar Homes Update<\/h2>\n<p>Minister D&#8217;Ambrosio also stated more than 79,000 Victorians have installed subsidised solar panels, batteries and solar hot water systems since the program kicked off in 2018.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOur investment in renewable energy and solar panels will create jobs and help reduce power bills,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lilydambrosio.com.au\/media-releases\/investing-in-renewables-to-keep-energy-bills-low\/\">said<\/a> the Minister. \u201cSolar panels delivering significant savings for Victorians \u2013 particularly at the moment, with people staying home to slow the spread of coronavirus.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here on SolarQuotes, we saw a significant uptick of interest in solar PV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/aussii-solar-may-20-mb1508\/\">in April<\/a>, and that has continued on into May.<\/p>\n<p>There are still plenty of VIC subsidies up for grabs &#8211; as at early this morning, the Solar Victoria website indicates there are 6,229 rebates for solar panels still available in this round. The subsidy is currently up to a value of $1,888 or 50% of the price of a solar power system &#8211; whichever is lowest &#8211; and is in addition to the national &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/rebate\/\">solar rebate<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0In July, it will drop &#8211; but only by $38 to $1,850.
