Anna Bligh, the Premier of Queensland has announced plans to provide two hundred thousand Queensland residents with solar powered, economical and ecological, hot water systems. Bligh states the government has begun its election commitment, and is encouraging householders to take advantage of the new program. A government hotline has already been set up, so anyone interested can register quickly, and easily.<\/p>\n

She adds that the new solar systems would cut the average electricity bill by up to three hundred dollars. Bligh wants to get the program moving along as quickly as possible and the task of finding local suppliers and installers for the solar systems is to begin next week.<\/p>\n

The more people register; the more local businesses will become involved. Bligh stated that more than eighty percent of homes in Queensland have hot water systems powered by electricity. That\u2019s a shocker, when you think how inefficient an electric storage hot water system is.<\/p>\n

Electric water systems are one of the largest consumers of energy in the home, and are responsible for a good percentage of greenhouse gas emissions. Pensioners will only have to pay a hundred dollars for the new, solar powered, hot water systems, installed and ready to use. Other Queensland households will be charged five hundred.<\/p>\n

By 2020, the Bligh Government reckons it can reduce the local carbon footprint by around thirty percent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
