There are only nine questions, covering:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Installation date<\/li>\n<li>Amount paid for the system<\/li>\n<li>System size<\/li>\n<li>Name of installation company<\/li>\n<li>Electrical contractor number &#8211; &#8220;I don&#8217;t know&#8221; is also an option<\/li>\n<li>Whether the owner received an\u00a0 Electrical Safety Certificate<\/li>\n<li>Satisfaction score<\/li>\n<li>Reason for satisfaction score<\/li>\n<li>Further comment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Submissions can be anonymous, but the option to leave a name and contact details is provided for those who want follow up (which isn&#8217;t guaranteed).<\/p>\n<p>While the reason for the survey is pretty vague, Building and Energy has some teeth. Among its functions are regulation, enforcement, audit and inspection, monitoring and investigating consumer related complaints in the electrical industry (and other industries).<\/p>\n<p>Depending on how broadly Building and Energy promotes the survey, it could get a lot of responses &#8211; and perhaps some installers may get a tap on the shoulder as a result of responses.<\/p>\n<h2>The Small-scale Solar Scene In Western Australia<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/australia\/solar-power-wa\/\">Home solar power in WA<\/a> is thriving. As at the end of February this year, more than 375,000 systems below 100kW capacity had been installed across the state. At least 5,900 of those installations occurred in the first two months of this year.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/systems\/feed-in-tariffs\/wa\/\">WA&#8217;s feed-in tariff<\/a> is pretty crappy nowadays, one of the reasons for PV&#8217;s enduring popularity is pricing. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/installers\/cities\/perth\/\">Solar installers in Perth<\/a> have been kept particularly busy as the city and metropolitan region has the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/solar-worth-it-perth\/\">lowest solar prices in Australia<\/a> (and apparently, in the world). Even with a lousy feed-in tariff, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/solar101.html\">going solar<\/a> will still be a great investment in many cases.<\/p>\n<h2>Do Your Research<\/h2>\n<p>Most Western Australians will have a positive experience in getting solar panels installed. But as is the case everywhere else and as in any trade, mistakes can be made and sometimes worse &#8211; WA isn&#8217;t immune to shonky operators. For example, a Perth solar installation firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/fake-reviews-fine-mb1715\/\">copped a $6,000 fine<\/a> last year for fake testimonials on its website.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, Western Australia\u2019s Commissioner for Consumer Protection (another Department division) Lanie Chopping said rooftop solar power has a bright future in Western Australia, but buyers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/consumer-protection-solar-mb1769\/\">need to do their research<\/a> before signing on the dotted line.<\/p>\n<p>Part of that research should include reading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/installers\/reviews\/\">solar installer reviews<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking generally about consumer issues and not just those relating to solar, in March this year Commissioner Chopping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.wa.gov.au\/announcements\/commissioners-blog-dont-complain-lodge-complaint\">said<\/a> consumers with issues were better off lodging a complaint they haven&#8217;t been able to resolve with a trader through the agency than just complaining on social media.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Our work relies on the WA community communicating with us so we can ensure traders are doing the right thing.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Western Australian government agency is asking the state&#8217;s solar owners to provide feedback on their clean power journey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":17,"featured_media":49077,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[678],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-49076","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-solar-battery-news","entry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
