While winter may have kicked off last month, that didn’t stop thousands of Australians getting busy on buying an electricity-bill busting solar power system.<\/p>\n

On a related note, SQ’s Ronald recently answered a question we often hear: how well does solar power work in winter<\/a>? (Spoiler: it can work very well – and while output may reduce in winter, it never disappears).<\/p>\n

Solar System Size Selection<\/h2>\n

In June, nearly 86% of those using the SolarQuotes quote service who had a system size already chosen were wanting to purchase a 6kW package or larger. Among that group approximately 56% wanted a system bigger than 6kW capacity, down on May’s 56%.<\/p>\n

Intended Purchasing Timeframe<\/h2>\n

A whopping 29% of Australians who requested quotes were eager to purchase a system immediately in June – well up on May’s 22%. This increase in interest for immediate installation was particularly noticeable in Victoria – and not surprising given the state’s solar panel rebate reduction that kicked in at the beginning of this month. Price And Quality Considerations<\/h2>\n

Around 11% were after a “top quality” (most expensive) system in June, down from 13% in May and April. Approximately 81% wanted a package providing a good balance of cost and quality, while a tad over 8% were interested in a good quality budget system. Advanced Solar Power System Monitoring<\/h2>\n

If it can’t be measured, it can’t be managed – so the old saying goes. Advanced solar monitoring<\/a> enables you to see how much solar electricity is being self-consumed in your home as well has how much is being generated. In June, just over 41% were interested in consumption monitoring; down from 43% in May. While adding this feature can add a few hundred dollars to a system purchase – it’s money well spent.<\/p>\n

Battery Ready Solar<\/h2>\n

Very little change here again in June, with just 7% expressing interest in a battery-ready system. While all solar systems are battery-ready, informing an installer you\u2019re considering having a battery installed at a later point can help with system design.<\/p>\n
