The standard battery rebate currently available where you don&#8217;t need to join a VPP is a point of sale discount up to a maximum of $3,500.<\/p>\n<h2>VPP Pilot Program Eligibility Criteria<\/h2>\n<p>Among the eligibility criteria for the boosted subsidy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The property must already have a solar power system with a capacity of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/systems\/5kw\/\">5kW<\/a> or greater installed, or will have such a system installed concurrently with the battery installation.<\/li>\n<li>Distributed Network Service Provider (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/grid-connection\/\">DNSP<\/a>) approval is required to connect a battery to the grid.<\/li>\n<li>The battery is on <a class=\"rpl-link rpl-link--nuxt rpl-text-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/approved-products#solar-batteries\" data-print-url=\"http:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/approved-products\"><span class=\"rpl-text-label\">Solar Victoria\u2019s approved battery list<\/span><\/a>. You can find specifications and estimated pricing for many of the brands\/models on SQ&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/battery-storage\/comparison-table\/\">solar battery comparison table<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The property does not have an existing energy storage system.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must be owner-occupiers of the property where the battery will be installed, and have not already received a rebate under the Solar Homes program (nor the property).<\/li>\n<li>The combined household taxable income of all owners is less than $180,000 a year.<\/li>\n<li>For an existing property, it must be valued at under $3 million per a current council rates notice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Added to that are eligibility criteria for each program.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligible Virtual Power Plant Programs<\/h2>\n<p>Currently, the approved VPP programs are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>QCells&#8217; Energy Comfort Aggregation (Bairnsdale and eastern Metropolitan suburbs only)<\/li>\n<li>Reposit&#8217;s No Bill (Victoria-wide)<\/li>\n<li>Sonnen&#8217;s SonnenConnect (Victoria-wide)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Further details on each of these programs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solar.vic.gov.au\/approved-virtual-power-plant-programs\">can be found here<\/a>. It&#8217;s not clear if other programs may be added in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Solar Victoria says all eligible programs provide consumer price certainty for a minimum of twelve months, can demonstrate benefits for participating households and have agreed to the agency&#8217;s other various consumer protections.
