Solar power systems were a little cheaper in Australia overall in June 2022 – find out how much was paid where in the latest SolarQuotes Australian solar price report.<\/p>\n

Victoria trumped Western Australia for the cheapest solar on a cost per watt installed basis (all sizes, and after subsidies) in June – but only just. WA is usually the cheapest overall, but this is the second time in 2022 we’ve seen Victoria wear the crown. Of all the states and territories we had sufficient data for, Victoria also saw the biggest drop – down a substantial 18c a watt.<\/p>\n

The figures above are based on details provided by 347 Australian buyers who let us know what they paid for their systems when submitting solar installer reviews<\/a>. These submissions included reviews of installers not within the SolarQuotes installer network.<\/p>\n

Cost Per Watt Nationally<\/h2>\n

The following graph indicates average cost-per-watt across all system sizes nationally going back to July 2020 .<\/p>\n

Cost per watt in June 2022 was still well up on June last year, but equal lowest since December 2021.<\/p>\n

6.6kW Solar System Prices \u2013 June 2022<\/h2>\n

The graph below shows average pricing nationally for 6.6kW systems. June’s average was $6,100, down on May’s $6,293.<\/p>\n

June A Corker For Home Solar And Battery Interest<\/h2>\n

Many Australians are keen on getting solar panels installed as soon as possible in light of recent electricity price rises pretty much right across the country. In this month’s auSSII<\/a> (Australian Solar Systems Interest Index), we mentioned 26% of those using the SQ quote service<\/a> in June expressed a desire to purchase a system straight away.<\/p>\n

There was also a significant bump up in solar battery interest in June, with just under 22% of quote requests indicating a desire to have panels and a home battery installed at the same time.<\/p>\n
