{"id":75928,"date":"2023-06-19T10:53:11","date_gmt":"2023-06-19T00:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/?p=75928"},"modified":"2024-10-02T10:44:51","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T01:14:51","slug":"enphase-iq8-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/enphase-iq8-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"At Long Last: Enphase Taking Aussie Orders for IQ8 Microinverters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-75989\" src=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/enphase-iq8hc-microinverter.jpg\" alt=\"enphase IQ8HC microinverter\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/enphase-iq8hc-microinverter.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/enphase-iq8hc-microinverter-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/enphase-iq8hc-microinverter-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/enphase-iq8hc-microinverter-768x402.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last April, we wrote that the long, long-awaited Enphase IQ8 microinverter was due to land in Australia \u2013 by the second quarter of this year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Enphase&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/enphase-iq8-australia-mb2452\/?irgwc=1&amp;irclickid=TFT0ONXuTxyNRCRSFXXSX0jAUkFx3QUd8RvIzU0\">promised delivery down under<\/a> hasn\u2019t happened, but in May the company posted a banner on its Website saying the microinverter, and the IQ Battery 5P, are available for pre-order, with <a href=\"https:\/\/enphase.com\/en-au\/blog\/professionals\/iq8-series-microinverters-latest-information-installers\">shipping to installers due in July<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been a long wait for the device. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/enphase-iq8-microinverter-mb2209\/\">Launched in October 2021<\/a>, it\u2019s been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/blog\/enphase-iq8-shipping-mb2292\/\">shipping in the US since December 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As we noted in our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/inverters\/micro\/\">microinverter explainer<\/a>, Enphase is both the most popular and arguably the best microinverter available, so the long wait for the IQ8 is frustrating for the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Enphase says there will be three variants offered here: the IQ8HC, IQ8AC, and the IQ8MC-ACM, which is for exclusive use with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/sunpower-review.html\">SunPower<\/a>-Maxeon AC Solar Panels.<\/p>\n<p>The IQ8 Microinverters come with a standard 15-year limited warranty, extendable to 20 or 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>In comparison to the previous IQ7 series, the IQ8 supports the latest high-current solar modules using M10 wafers with a higher DC current handling capacity of 14 A, versus the 10.2 A supported by the IQ7A Microinverters.<\/p>\n<p>The IQ8HC (High Current) Microinverter has a power output of 380W. If you want to claim STCs (AKA the <a href=\"http:\/\/solarquotes.com.au\/panels\/rebate\/\">Solar Rebate<\/a>), Australia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/support.solarquotes.com.au\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/115000931614-How-do-I-oversize-my-panel-array-if-I-want-to-use-micro-inverters-?_ga=2.27518388.960522190.1687130307-1898061664.1682646163&amp;_gl=1*cn0fs5*_ga*MTg5ODA2MTY2NC4xNjgyNjQ2MTYz*_ga_V8LFJHZ9SZ*MTY4NzEyOTk3My4xMTYuMS4xNjg3MTM0MDAyLjI1LjAuMA..\">rules allow a solar panel size up to 133% larger<\/a> than the inverter power rating. That makes the IQ8HC microinverter &#8216;compatible&#8217; with solar panels up to 505 W.<\/p>\n<h2>IQ Energy Router on the Way<\/h2>\n<p>If you want to mark your calendar, Australia can start waiting for the next key technology from Enphase, with its <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.enphase.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/enphase-energy-launches-new-home-energy-management-solution\">IQ Energy Router showing up outside the US<\/a>, in Germany and Austria.<\/p>\n<p>The energy router products integrate Enphase solar and battery systems with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/ev-chargers\/\">EV chargers<\/a> (IQ Energy Router) and heat pumps (IQ Energy Router+).<\/p>\n<p>The IQ Energy Routers monitor and control energy usage of chargers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarquotes.com.au\/hot-water\/heat-pump\/\">heat pumps<\/a>, with the Enphase Energy System providing solar production forecasting and consumption forecasting, with an &#8216;optimisation engine&#8217; designed to maximise self-consumption.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Note from Finn: <\/strong>Enphase is cooking up a router that&#8217;s going to link their microinverters with EV chargers and heat pumps.
