The Victorian parliament is set to vote in the new feed-in tariff laws as early as Wednesday. The proposition of this legislation has angered a great deal of green campaigners and supporters of renewable energy.<\/p>\n
The Electricity Industry Amendment Bill of 2009 states that people who use solar power systems which are connected directly to the national electricity grid will be able to receive 60\u00a2 per kilowatt hour of additional electricity that their systems generate. But, and it’s a huge but, this bill states that this will become a time-limited credit on your electricity bill.<\/p>\n
Basically this means that if you generate more electricity that you use, you will never get paid for your energy! This must be the most retarded Feed In Tariff the world has ever seen. The big electricity companies must be celebrating in their Tasmanian Oak lined board rooms.<\/p>\n
Unsurprisingly, this is not only upset a great number of green groups, but also angered most of the users of domestic solar power supplies. It is also very unfortunate, because it is likely that if this bill goes through, fewer people are going to be interested in installing larger solar power systems in their homes.<\/p>\n
