Second solar system by Ultra Greensun Southern Tas
This was the second solar system that we have bought from Ultra Greensun Southern Tas. We bought this because we moved and downsized. Roland is a very professional and knowledgeable person. His reply to my initial enquiry was prompt and followed up with a site visit. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his suggestions in regard to system size and position were spot on. We are at SaltWater river 90 minutes from Hobart, the travel time was not an issue to either Roland or his installers.Levi and his crew of installers kept me informed on the install date and arrived on time. They were very professional and polite. The job was done quickly including a switchboard upgrade, they suggested a timer on the hot water system so that it was off when not in use at night, we went with this and it works well, we have plenty of hot water for our showers in the morning. They even cleaned up after themselves and took their rubbish with them.
We are very pleased with the whole process and would not hesitate to recommend Ultra Greensun Southern Tas to anyone that wants a first class system and seamless installation.

Easy Process. Very happy with the system
We opted for a 10kw system . Roland organised the permits, the TAS govt loan and everything that was needed without any fuss. The sales process was seamless and the installation was done efficiently in about half a day with great communication from the installers. Really happy with the whole process and very happy with the finished product. It's absolutely pumping out power. We'll barely have a bill for most of the year.20 September 2023
Terrific service, seamless install job
After quite a bit of research and conversations with installers I felt I was reasonably well informed. Roland was more than helpful and suggested I go up in kW capacity to 7.88, which we did. I opted for the 8.2 Fronius inverter so I could easily drop a few extra panels on in the future.The quote, 1 of 6 and of varying quality components, was very competitive, cheaper in fact than several smaller systems with cheaper inverters.
From day one, Roland kept us informed. Checked everything was ok for the installers and made sure it was all going where I wanted it.
The weather for the install was pretty miserable but those guys got into it and got the job done pretty quickly and without fuss.
All together a good experience.
I highly recommend Roland and Ultra Green Sun Solar!

Getting solar installed effortlessly
We had initially been recommended by friends to use Roland at Ultra Greensun Solar Southern Tas and they were right !Roland explained the process and timelines clearly for us and was happy to change the original proposed panel layout to better fit on our roof and reduce shading issues from nearby trees. We did experience some minor delays getting Aurora to our site, but here again Roland was great and helped speed the process up. Installation crew were also friendly / helpful and pleasure to have them onsite. Would highly recommend !

Maxed out install all-ready exceeding expectations
Our 9 year old 5kw install was due for an upgrade and after obtaining 3 quotes we signed up with Ultra Greensun Solar. Roland did a comprehensive on site inspection with excellent advice on options and his quote was the most detailed, listed top quality components and was the best value. Our decision to convert to 3 ph supply delayed the install due to Tasnetworks timeframes with Roland's following up always friendly and prompt.Our north facing 30 degree pitch hall roof was ideal to get the best from a high quality system and the whole team, Roland and installer Jonathon's crew did a top job in realising that potential.

Now is the time to get Solar and Ultra Greensun is a great choice
It was a pleasure to consult with Roland for a Solar system for our house. He called in and clearly went through everything that was required to greatly reduce our hydro bills.The upfront costs will be recovered quickly over time - when you see the constant rise of Gas and hydro costs.
The seamless installation by his crew was excellent. All set up solar system with online monitoring of usage and electricity production. We can easily control when the hot water cylinder is using off peak power with my phone.
The savings have been immediate and exceptional.
Next thing will be a battery and a new electric car to go with the solar power.
We highly recommend Ultra Greensun.

So glad I chose this company for my solar installation
After receiving quotes from a number of different local solar companies, I chose Roland from Ultra Greensun Solar Southern Tasmania as my supplier. I did this for a couple of reasons. First, I found Roland to be a warm, helpful and most importantly in this industry, honest person, who's company has a virtually flawless reputation in the market place, and the review sites I searched.Secondly, he was open to products I preferred, namely REC Pure Alpha solar panels and the latest Sungrow 3 string inverter. Moreover, his prices on these products was better than anyone else, but even if it was slightly more, he gave me the confidence to believe he knew what he was doing and that he would stand behind his workmanship. With REC, for me to get their extended warranty, it required his installers to become approved by REC through a training programme. Roland did this at his expense, without hesitation. This alone was enormous comfort to me.
Finally, he guided me through the complex process of setting up my home for solar, getting me online with the Sungrow app so I could monitor my solar consumption in real time, and going above and beyond in every aspect of my dealings with him.
Two last bonuses; a) he was a registered Brighte Energy Finance supplier, which allowed us to pay for our system over a 3 year period (Tasmanian Government Incentive) interest free, and b) the resulting savings from this 6.3kw system has, for the past two months since it was installed (March/April 2023) has delivered us a credit, not a bill (albeit we have a concession card which delivers around $40/month savings, but even without that we would have had bills or around $30/month instead of the previous $120/month. And power bills are reportedly on the rise!).
Roland, and Ultragreensun Solar Southern Tasmania get my highest recommendation and I would, without hesitation recommend him and his company to anyone considering a solar system. It's been the best decision for us.

Awesome easy installation from start to finish
Roland was more than happy to answer my never ending list of questions without it being an issue, very prompt in replying, always keeping us up to date with the process from the start of the quote to installation. Fantastic all round, great information from Roland and I asked a lot of questions. The service was without fault. The panels were installed quickly and the men were great. I’m so excited to see how much power they can produce.

Find someone else
The most drawn out installation I’ve ever experienced. Paid in November and now it’s March and I’m still waiting to be hooked up properly. If I had my time again I would have gone with someone else.I can’t rate system because it’s still not working

No contract signed with my company, I take installations on trust value. We were forced into a position to use another installer to get the job done before Xmas, this did not happen despite my best efforts pushing the installer to get the job done. As you can see, my ratings are quite high, I do not think it fair that I should wear installers incompetence ,particularly when they informed us that the job would be done by holiday time.06 January 2021
Quality with great service and install
We have used Ultra Greensun Solar Southern Tasmania twice since moving to Tasmania 7 years ago,we enjoyed great solar from their install at our first home and now we have downsized Ultra Greensun Solar were our first stop for our new solar and they delivered, Roland provided a competitive quote with comprehensive information re current solar etc. The installers were excellent, polite, on time and just got on with their work, 4 hours later the install was completed. Informative and Competitive
Roland was really informative and always delivered quotes and information when promised. Very happy to recommend to anyone looking to install solar in Hobart. The installation team were super efficient and clearly knew their stuff. They were punctual and responded quickly and efficiently to a minor adjustment that was required a day after install. Left the property tidy, hardly knew they had been here at all. Great team.

Roland was exceptional throughout the whole process. He came out to see me and answered all my questions without feeling pressured. He has kept me informed and even took time out to answer some further queries after the install. He ensured I got the extended warranty on the inverter. Personable, responsive and efficient service
Roland was quick to respond, honest in his discussions, and efficient in organising subcontractor to install. The subcontractor was prompt and efficient and pushed on to complete the job in difficult windy conditions. This did mean that there was a fair bit of wind blown litter in our yard but it kinda wasn’t their fault! Techsafe check has highlighted a minor issue with the connection which should be easy to resolve and the system appears to be working great, delivering consistently good 4.9-5kW maxima (Goodwe 5kw inverter with 6.6kW of Jinko panels) on most days since installation, with surprisingly good outputs even in a run of recent cloudy days. Overall, I’m very happy! Can’t wait for battery prices to come down and make them worthwhile to install.Panel rating: 4/5

I opted for Ultra Greensun Solar Southern Tasmania. I had purchased an evacuated tube Solar Hot Water system from them some years previously and am very pleased with that.I have found Roland Barwin ( Managing Director of Ultra Greensun Solar Southern Tasmania) to be punctual, polite and knowledgable. Any query where he was unsure of the answer was researched and answered promptly. Any delays or problems with delivery etc., I was notified and kept informed.
15 months later we asked Geoff: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
Yes. Probably exceeded expectations as combined with incandescent globe replacement with LED, we do our best to use appliances during the middle of the day, ie. dishwasher, washing machine and vacuum are the easiest.I record and chart my power usage (since 2009) and have seen a steady reduction per quarterly bill. That will obviously taper off in future quarters.
With the above load profiling we do, the returns we have seen over a full 12 months are ~20% of install cost.
The Solar PV combined with a previously installed Solar HW system has been all good for us.
I am pleased.

Local supplier, came to the house and run through everything with me. Installation was excellent, set up my system for online monitoring of usage and production via the enphase micro inverters.Production so far has been amazing, so looking forward to the savings this quarter.
Would highly recommend this company in Tasmania.
8 months later we asked Alun: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"
It's been amazing to date, the savings will have this system paid for fully in about 8 years based on my calculations and current market rates.Thank you Finn for all the great advise on Solar systems, I spent about 6 months researching before buying the system, your site provided an unbiased review of the options and I believe in the end sent me in exactly the right direction with my system. Money well spent after some great advise.

Overall, very happy with the service from Ultra Greensun and the new system is performing really well - very exciting! The EnPhase monitoring device Envoy-S was initially not quite set up as well as we would have liked, but we worked it through with the installer and it is now set up well. Roland was very good at listening as well as explaining. We had a good idea of the sort of features we wanted from the system and Roland took all that on board, proffered relevant and worthwhile advice and gave us confidence he was tailoring the proposed system to meet our needs. We liked the Jinko insurance cover which covers failures in the modules even if Jinko goes bust. Now considering a few (1-2 kWh) batteries to get that time shift happening... Initially, I contracted with Ultra Greensun for installation of a 3.5kw solar power system. I was so impressed with how smoothly and trouble-free the installation was that I decided to also to use them to install a solar hot water systeml. In both instances the advice, the standard of work and the service was outstanding.

I had been referred to Ultra Greensun by a close personal friend, who at the time was acting as an installer. This was about 4 years ago. I contacted Roland (sales Hobart) and I found him to be thorough, fair, customer focused and customer driven. He was a no B.S. salesman.
To me that is a rare commodity in this day and age. I contracted him to provide a 10Kw grid connected system. This was provided and up and running very expediently.
At the time I understand is was the biggest residential system in the state. Since then Ultra GreenSolar have provided me with another 5kw grid connect system and 3 Hot water systems and all are running flawlessly.
I cannot recommend Roland and his team of installers highly enough as all installations were what I would call "show room quality". No detail (no matter how small) was overlooked. After sales service was also faultless.
Bearing the above comments in mind I can state that I have no ties (other than as a very satisfied customer) and would welcome any queries from prospective clients of Ultra GreenSun.

This company had someone come to the house to asses the roof and pitch. When the installers came to the house some changes were made however I was given all the information and some advice and then allowed to make my decision. The installers were very well mannered and did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. There were some challenges on the installation due to roof pitch and things in the way but the guys made it work and all within the legal requirements. Thanks for a great job.

I chose ULTRA GREEN SUN both for the solar power & also for the solar hot water as I thought that the two should be installed to maximize the reduction in my power bill. Roland Barwon of Ultra Green Sun was the first to ring me & did a good job of explaining all about solar power, he also supplied me with 2 references who I contacted & were both happy with the product & installers. It took six weeks for the SMA inverter promised in the quote to arrive.This is not the fault of Ultra Greensun Solar. I believe this is due to the fact that large companies are treated better by their suppliers than small companies.
The large (mainly mainland) solar companies, may provide a better price, but do not provide better service, as they were not even prepared to send someone to look at the site.
In our case we had 26 panels installed over three roof surfaces. Most larger companies were only interested in simple (one roof surface) profitable jobs.
Ultra Greensun sent both the salesman and the installer in two separate visits and did a great job once all parts had arrived.
27 months later we asked Max: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

The installer was a little untidy - leaving cable tie ends and scraps of material on the roof and ground. The orange AC supply cable from inverter to switchboard was left uncovered in a highly visible location. This was promptly rectified by rerunning in grey conduit on request.

We decided on a 3.2 kW system with an inverter rated at 5 kW to enable us to expand at a future date if necessary.
The reason we chose Ultra Greensun was his prompt service in arranging the quote and explaining the pros and cons of different systems without being a "pushy" salesman. Also, he is a local Tasmanian and lives within a few kilometres of us.
Of the other 2 who quoted, I had a phone call from one of them and the other just provided the quote hand written on a business card, and both of them were well after Ultra Greensun had been to see us and provided the quote.

The new meter was installed on Thursday 17/01/13 and in four days, some with a lot of cloud, the meter reads power imported from Aurora 24 kWh

Still waiting to hear from installer, was told they would contact us in 1-2 weeks with installation in about 4. It's now been 5 weeks and still no contact. Have contacted Utra Green Sun who have said they will contact installer and get them to contact us early this week, but we are still waiting.

After my installation there have been 4 follow on installations ordered and are in the process.
5 Days after commissioning at the "worst" time of year for solar have so far averaged production of 25% of total power requirements.

Second time user
This is the second time I’ve used this company and did not hesitate to contact Roland once I decided to get a solar system at my new house. Roland was prompt and efficient in supplying information and a quote. He kept me updated on the process, gave me advice on the Tasmanian Government’s No Interest Loan Scheme and at no time did I feel pressured to make a decision in a hurry.The installers turned up on time and they were polite and efficient; the installation was completed in a day and all paperwork was sent to the appropriate authorities for final inspection.
I have recommended Ultra Greensun to family and friends.
