Winki Solutions is an Electrical and Solar installation company that was started in Torquay Victoria by Steve Cox.

Steve is a licensed Electrician and CEC accredited for both Solar and Batteries with over 17 years experience in the Electrical Industry.

 

Winki has grown from humble beginnings installing residential solar in Torquay to become one of the larger solar installation companies in Victoria. We installed over 8MW of Solar panels last year, that's approximately 20,000 panels!

 

We now employ 32 staff, this includes 13 CEC accredited Electricians, 10 apprentices, 3 Operations managers, 2 salespeople and essential office support staff. This allows us to complete all installations in house maintaining our high standards of quality whilst not having to rely on the availability of 3rd party subcontractors.

 

Being founded in a regional town we understand that integrity and our reputation is all that will hold us in good stead long term. Our goal has been to keep those same values as we have scaled the business into a greater offering. We now have full time dedicated teams in Torquay, Geelong and Melbourne which allows us to maintain our high level of safety, quality of work and country values.

 

We are not a sales company that will be gone tomorrow, we are career Electricians that will be here to service your system and honour any warranties required in the years to come.

Fantastic

Winki Solar were very professional and explained all of the steps to my wife and I and how the whole thing works . Was a 2 day install and the guys were very respectful and tidy. The sales consultant was always contactable if we had a question, and he was a big part of our decision to go with Winki. I love looking at my phone now to see how much electricity I am producing.

So good!

My first contact was with the lovely Andrew - a tradie himself he is more than a salesperson. He knows the product and the industry well and provided a lot of good information and examples. He was also the first person who suggested the panels should be installed flat and took the time to explain the reasons. The Winki tech team are also fab. A site inspection threw up a tricky issue which was resolved by their electrician. The installation itself was great with another tricky curve ball resolved by the head electrician’s ingenuity. The team were professional and easy to have around keeping me informed along the way. The Winki back office are also fab, professional and responsive. Very happy.

Winki was fantastic

From the get go Winki was great.

Andrew contacted me to discuss what we needed, after hearing our previous tale of woe about having trying to get solar installed he walked me thru the steps and the time line.

We originally were looking at a 6.6kW system but after some back and forth we decided to go with a larger 8.3kW system. The old saying you'll never regret going for a larger system was the driving force. We tend to be really heavy day time users during winter and summer and above average in spring / autumn.

Andrew and the guys made it really easy to under stand and I thought the out of pocked price was more than reasonable.
We also had follow up regarding the quotes making sure we understood it and seeing where we were at.

The solar system was installed over 2 days. 18 & 19 Dec 2023. Richard the lead installer was great. Turned up on time gave us a heads up when they needed to turn off the power and then showed me the ins and outs of the user app etc.

Also very impressed that the guys didn't leave behind any scraps or rubbish, on the ground you'd be hard pressed to see that any one was even here.

Looking forward now to having it switched on and saving money.

Smooth Efficient Installation

Great experience!

Dealing with something you are weary of doing can be hard.
But Winky Solar was a breath of fresh air.
They explained the whole process very well and did not try to push me in choosing a system I did not need.

Excellent company - highly recommended

Went with Winki Solar following a recommendation from a friend who works in the industry. Very glad we did - Winki gave us a proposal that was tailored to our needs, and they were more than happy to talk through the details. Other companies I spoke to were not as keen to explain their recommendations.

Staff were all super responsive throughout the sign up and application process and they went out of their way to make install work around our schedule.

Install itself was efficient and completed with a high attention to detail. The crew explained what they were doing at different stages and our roof was left in immaculate condition.

Couldn’t be happier with the final result - looks super neat and tidy and, most importantly, has all been working efficiently since the day it was commissioned. Thank you Winki!

Great to work with!

We completed a full renovation on our house in Brunswick. Winki were selected as our Solar and battery installer due to a recommendation from a friend. We found them professional to deal with and they were happy to work around the building team. We got 13kw Solar and 2 Tesla Powerwall batteries. We have had zero bills since it was installed and thats been through winter. We had some professional photos done of our house and the solar looks great

Exceptional and simple

The entire process was simple, affordable and exceptional.

I couldn’t have my solar installed when I first reached out because of neighbouring trees, so I sat tight for more than 6 months and let Winki know. Not only was I remembered but I was contacted immediately and everything was explained to me simply and easily.

All I had to do was the paperwork. The quote process was easy and electronic and I found the price for our set up reasonable and competitive.

The install was done in a day and a bit and the lads were professional and communicative.

I’m so impressed with everything. The service is top notch.

Excellent Installer

My experience with Winki Solar has been first class. From the initial contact with Andrew, the follow-through with Dexter, the interaction with the installation team Jack, Damian, Michael, and also Michael in accounts, every aspect of the process has been handled in an extremely professional manner, I have been impressed by Winki's processes and their high level of communication. Excellent install on a challenging site

The quoting/sales process was good, the sales guy was pretty knowledgeable and happy to chat through my options over the phone. After a few iterations, I ended up up-selling myself from 6.6kw to 10kw for not much extra $ (mostly by upgrading from a 370w to a similarly sized-and-priced 415w panel, then chucking a few more on as well).
When the panels landed, Winki were able to get a better price for me, without my asking, and reduced my quote accordingly.

Installation took a while to get started, which was understandable given the surge in solar enquiries and terrible weather. When they actually started, the team was there every morning at 7am on the dot. I was given choices about cable runs and they were happy to do slightly more difficult but better-looking runs for me. A few broken tiles along the way were to be expected, but all were replaced and everything tidied up perfectly at the end.

No disappointments, delivered what was promised

Right from the beginning Winki were so helpful, friendly, prompt and professional.
Everything occurred in a punctual manner, and I was constantly kept in the loop for every stage. Nothing was too much trouble and I was so impressed that there was very little I had to do. Everything was taken care of, on my behalf. I would highly recommend Winki as a solar panel installer.

A breath of fresh air

After having dealt with too many tradesmen recently on our new build Dex and the team at Winki were a breath of fresh air. Their quote wasn't the cheapest but I decided to go with them because of the patience, level of communication and respect they showed me as a customer. Dex was always there to answer my litany of questions (I'm not an easy customer! I need to know everything!) and was always responsive and detailed. When it came to installation I was relieved I didn't have to ask for proper safety provisions (they automatically quoted a scissor lift). Alex and the team did an amazing job and there wasn't a single bit of garbage left or anything untidy. Often you get what you pay for and I'm so glad I invested the time and money in Winki. Our system is already performing so well and the cabling is barely visible. Thank you, this was a huge decision for us (and a big financial investment) and it went very smoothly and we are very happy. Cannot recommend enough.

Happy with the process and the installation

The Salespeople I dealt with were very attentive and quick to respond.
They took into consideration our preference not to have the panels visible from the road.

Very Happy with the process and the installation

The Saleperson I dealt with was very attentive and quick to respond.
Installation went ahead without issue. Punctual, polite etc.
Panels were installed two weeks ago - currently still awaiting an inspector to check the system before proceeding with connection to grid (so can’t comment yet on my level of satisfaction for that part of the process.

Highly Professional Company & Employees

From the start, Winki were the first of the three companies to quote, not only did they provide a quote for the system I requested but also for a lower & higher KWH producing system so I could compare all the data. Dexter was my contact & from day one we had an instant connection he was polite & courteous at all times keeping me fully informed with phonecalls & follow up emails even on weekends & public holidays, Winki are very lucky to have such an asset.

Installers arrived less than a week after paying the deposit, they were on time & despite being a less than straight forward install, I have multi split roof, Alex from Sulec & his team handled it in their stride. Despite being a man down on the day they finished the job in one day & cleaned up after themselves. Alex even set up the Goodwe app on my mobile phone. In less than 48hrs ESV inspector was on site & commissioned my new system which is going gangbusters.
The original price quoted was a little over my budget as I was not entitled to any rebates so I advised Dexter that I would need to go to another cheaper quote but I wasn't comfortable in doing so. Dexter came back with a proposal that fitted my budget & although still more expensive than the cheaper quote I felt more comfortable dealing with Winki.

I could not have asked for a more smoother install, Dexter, Alex & the gang are to be congratulated for his efforts.

Out of the 3 recommendation they were the only one that listened to what I wanted and were the only one to visit the site before quoting.

Winki Solutions is a small business that will build a good reputation and is willing to tackle a tricky installation. They have installed a system of about 19 and a half Kw on a metal roof with 35 degree pitch. About 7 Kw on the east surface and about 12Kw on the west face. It contains 53 370w Trina panels on 5 strings which run 13 metres under the pergola to the rear of my garage and into a 15 Kw Fronius 3 phase inverter. The AC runs from the inverter 6 meters through the roof to a sub-board. There is a smart meter installed at the mains board (which is a further 10 meters from the sub board) to feed data to the inverter so that the system can balance the output and won't exceed the maximum allowed on each phase. Installation was only completed less than a week ago and at this stage I am waiting for the final inspection which is booked for 3 days time before the system can be activated. Original ratings

8 months later we asked Malcolm: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

The system that I installed is larger than the majority of home owners will or can install.
The power supply to my home had to be upgraded to allow for an air conditioning upgrade (Evaporative to Refrigerated).

After getting 3 Phase power to my house I was informed that I could install a solar system that could be up to 10 Kw per Phase.

I ended up with a system that is about 19.5Kw comprising 20 x 370Kw panels (about 7.4Kw) facing east on a 35 Degree pitch roof and 33 panels (about 12.2Kw) on the opposite side of the roof facing west again on a 35 degree pitch.

On a clear day(Jan 25, 2022 in the south western suburbs of Melbourne) my system started producing at 06:35 hrs in the morning and stopped at 20:44 hrs that night, with a total output of 109.05 kWh for the day. Our power usage for the day (24 Hours, midnight to midnight) was 12.75kWh.

A month after going live our power provider cut the rebate from 10.2 cents to 6.7 cents a kWh so our return is not as good as first predicted. But we are still, not only covering our usage cost (which was about $350-$400 per quarter), but are gaining a credit balance.

We have also had the same installer put a system on to a rental property so our tenant is gaining the benefit of having solar be it a much smaller system.

Fantastic Service

From start to finish our experience with Dex and Winki Solar was first class. They went over and above to ensure our solar experience was painless.

Outstanding delivery at every level!

The sales and quoting service was informative,knowledgeable and presented in layman's language, so it was easy to understand the pricing structure and the whole installation process.

The installation went as planned, with the team arriving punctually onsite, and individually introducing themselves. They explained what they were doing and apologised in advance for any noises they made while walking across our flat roof, and drilling the stays that secured the solar panels. The site was left exactly as they found it with all packaging taken away.

Customer Service and follow through at every step of the way was excellent, from the explanations of the process,assistance with the rebate system, the installation set up,monitoring, the inspection certification and the grid connection after the installation.

After some fairly heavy winds over Christmas, two of the team came to inspect the installation to ensure everything was as it should be.

Couldn't be happier

I was really impressed with how hard Winki worked to make this a successful installation. All their communications were clear, helpful and timely. They were very proactive and responsive with the different design options, and they installed the system for us in a very short timeframe to ensure we were eligible for the higher rebate before the end of year reduction.

They took real pride in their work and the installation was undertaken to a very high standard (I had some particular requirements which they more than satisfied). They closely monitored performance for some weeks after the installation to ensure that everything was working well. I have had solar panels installed twice before, and overall I would rate the service provided by WInki as outstanding.

Really responsive team and quick installation

Supplier spent a lot of time talking through options and explaining the technology to me. They were happy to answer my millions of questions, and very responsive via email and phone calls.
The price given was very fair (I got 7 quotes) for the system we wanted, and they installed it within 1 week of the paperwork being signed!

Steve has called inspector but i think the inspector is quite disorganised and still wont show up to commission the install. If this is government i am not surprised.

Great service, easy to deal with installer

I choose to procure my Solar System from Winki Solutions after shopping for a number of quotes, but wanted a local installer with a record of quality installation. Based upon a recommendation from an electrician who had seen their work, I chose Winki, and they provided a high quality system at a competitive price.

The communication from Steve throughout the process was excellent and they arrived and installed the system on time.

The quality of work was also to a high standard, with a slightly difficult installation to run the DC cable to the inverter in my garage. The work was neat and tidy and no damage to my house occured.

I would recommend Winki Solutions to others considering a solar system.
