We do something harder than selling you a phone number

Plenty of companies will sell you a phone number and call it a lead. The installers we've worked with since 2009 will tell you our approach is worth it.

Leads that know what they want

Every lead answers at least 15 questions before they reach you. They’ve read our guides. They know what a quality system can cost. You spend less time educating and more time quoting.

Friendliest return policy

If a lead isn’t seriously considering a system in the next 12 months, reject it within 7 days and you won’t be invoiced. Simple as that. No arguments, no clawback fees, no fine print.

Home electrification focus

We offer leads for solar, batteries, EV chargers, and hot water heat pumps. Every page of content and every qualification question is built specifically for this industry.

Honest by design

We don’t incentivise enquiries or run call centres. Motivated owners come to us for independent advice. They arrive ready to have a real conversation, not a generic sales pitch.

Built for the long game

Solar that ends up in landfill is our enemy. We’d rather send you fewer leads that buy quality systems than flood you with bargain-hunters looking for the cheapest panels.

Owned by Origin, run by the original SolarQuotes team

Since joining Origin Energy in late 2024, we’ve kept the editorial independence and quality standards that got us here. Bigger backing, same philosophy. Being owned by Origin means we can offer perks to you, such as same-day STC payments and exclusive energy plan offers for you and your customers.

Our extensive lead qualification process

Using solar as an example – before a lead reaches you, they've answered:

  • Existing home or new build?
  • Finance required?
  • How many storeys?
  • Roof type?
  • Budget?
  • New system or upgrade?
  • System size?
  • Panel-level optimisation?
  • Electricity bill size?
  • 1, 2 or 3 quotes?
  • Home visit?
  • Timeframe for buying?
  • Anything else we need to know?
  • Name, address, phone, and email (validated before the lead is sent).

How it works

Our job is simple to describe and hard to do well. We find Australians ready to buy quality solar, batteries, EV chargers and/or hot water heat pumps, qualify them properly, and hand them over to installers who'll do right by them. Here's the process.

  1. 01

    They find us

Australians come to SolarQuotes through search, referrals, quality paid ads (mainly Google/Facebook) and word of mouth. They read our guides, compare brands on our review pages, and work out what a fair price looks like. By the time they’re ready for quotes, they’ve already done their homework.

  2. 02

    They fill out the form

Fifteen questions covering system size, budget, roof type, timeframe, finance needs, and the rest. It’s detailed. Anyone not serious drops off here, which is exactly what we want.

  3. 03

    We match them to installers

Our referral engine finds a max of three installers who match the customer’s location, system requirements, and preferences. If you’ve said you don’t do off-grid, you won’t get off-grid enquiries. If you’re at your monthly cap, we route to someone else.

  4. 04

    The customer gets your details

We email the customer the three companies we’ve matched them to, including you, along with a quality checklist to help them evaluate the quotes beyond price alone. They know you’re coming.

  5. 05

    You get the lead

Straight into your CRM via API (or email or SMS). Contact details, system requirements, answers to all 15 questions, and anything they flagged in “anything else we need to know.” You’re charged for the lead at this point, subject to the 7-day return policy.

  6. 06

    You quote and close

The rest is on you. We take no commission on sales. What you sell is between you and the customer.

  7. 07

We follow up at multiple points

A week after the enquiry, we check in with the customer to see if everyone has quoted and if any installers need a gentle reminder – even the best can drop the ball from time to time! Three months after the enquiry, we ask the customer who they went with and invite them to review the installer. Good reviews appear on your public review page on our site, which ranks highly on Google and serves as valuable social proof for your next sale.

Transparent lead pricing

Here's what we charge for sales leads for an individual quote, and the add-on fee if customers get quotes for multiple items at the same time.

Lead TypeBase Price (ex GST)Add-on Fee (ex GST)
Residential Solar$60$5
Batteries$55$5
Off Grid$80$5
EV Charger$30$5
Hot Water Heat Pump$35$5
Solar Repairs & Maintenance$36n/a
Commercial Solar$185n/a

Example: A lead requesting both solar and an EV charger is charged $65 ex GST — $60 for solar + $5 add-on for the EV charger. For multi-item leads, the highest base price always applies first.

Your questions answered

The questions we get asked most often when installers are deciding whether to sign up.

Won't I just be competing against the cheap, low-quality installers?

No. We’re selective about who we work with, and the companies you’re thinking of have never been on our network. SolarQuotes exists to give quality installers a fighting chance against race-to-the-bottom competitors.

How will we receive the leads?

Email, SMS, or directly into your CRM via our API. Whichever suits. The API integration takes about a day to set up, and our team works alongside yours to get it running.

What if a lead isn't any good?

Reject it within seven days, and you won’t be invoiced. There’s no cap on rejections, no arguments, and no clawback fees. If a lead genuinely isn’t considering a system in the next twelve months, it’s on us.

Can I control how many leads I get?

Yes. Set a daily, weekly, or monthly cap. Ten a month, fifty a week, whatever fits your capacity. You can pause your account at any time or change your cap whenever you need to.

Can I choose what kind of leads I get?

Yes. We offer:

  • Solar leads
  • Battery leads
  • EV charger leads, and
  • Hot water heat pump leads

Nominate the lead types and areas you want to service, and we’ll filter accordingly. You’re only sent leads matching your criteria.

Is there a minimum contract?

No. No minimum spend, no lock-in, no exit fees. If it’s not working for you, opt out.

How fast do leads come through?

It depends on the lead. Straightforward enquiries that pass our validation checks can hit your CRM within minutes of submission. Others go through additional steps that are fully automated, but can also require human intervention. Either way, you’ll be notified the moment a lead is assigned to you, so you can follow up while the customer is still in buying mode.

Isn't this a race to the bottom on price?

No. We’ve never promoted SolarQuotes as a place to find the cheapest system. Our advice consistently tells people to pay more for quality that lasts, and avoid the junk. We just make it easier to get the three quotes the Clean Energy Council and the government both recommend.

How long will it take to process my application?

Our thorough vetting process takes time – with multiple layers of human review. If everything goes smoothly, applications are usually processed within 4-6 weeks. As part of this process, you’ll be set up with a review page on our website where customers can learn about your company, see examples of your work, and leave reviews of your company if they’ve bought a system from you.

Who we work with

We're selective about who joins the network. These are the minimum standards an installer needs to meet before we'll send them a single lead:

Active ABN, registered for GST.
Appropriate contracting licence for your state.
At least 12 months operating in the Australian solar industry (or equivalent owner experience).
Installs quality hardware from reputable manufacturers.
Minimum 5-year installation warranty.
At least one SAA-accredited designer on staff full-time.
Demonstrated track record of satisfied customers and good post-install service.
Systems in place to follow up every lead within one business day.
Provides comprehensive quotes including yield estimates and payback projections.

Why we exist

Finn Peacock founded SolarQuotes® to give Australians a go-to resource with accurate, objective, easily accessible information about everything solar – and to connect them with quality installers when they were ready to buy a system.

Sixteen years on, Finn has stepped back from daily operations but remains the conscience of the business. SolarQuotes joined Origin Energy in late 2024, bringing scale without changing the philosophy: help Australians electrify their homes with quality products, and send the work to honest installers.

What our installers say
