Has Your Solar Installer Disappeared? What To Do.

If you’re viewing this page, it’s possible you arrived here after clicking a link on an installer review listing indicating we have good reason to believe that company is no longer operating.

This situation is usually flagged with us in reports from the firm’s customers. When we receive news a solar installer has gone out of business, we first do everything we can to contact that party. If we’re unable to make contact after a week or the owner confirms operations have ceased, we then put a notice on the installer’s review page.

If you’re an owner/employee of a business we’ve indicated as no longer operating and that isn’t the case, please let us know so we can investigate and act accordingly.

If you’re an “orphaned” customer of a solar business that has closed, here’s some advice you may find helpful.

General Repairs And Maintenance

SolarQuotes can assist with non-warranty related repairs and maintenance services by putting you in contact with accredited professionals we trust who can keep your system performing as it should, or get it back on track if it isn’t.

Warranty Claims/Deposits

If you have a solar power system installed by a firm that is no longer operating and want to make a component warranty claim, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your panels/inverter/battery – whichever appears to be affected.

You should be able to determine what brands of products you have installed on the original warranty documentation accompanying the system.

If you’re in the unfortunate position of being an “orphaned” customer of the company and the warranty issue is related to poor installation workmanship, or the manufacturer is not responding or has also gone out of business, then we recommend contacting your state or territory’s consumer affairs agency.

The same advice applies if you have paid the installer a deposit on a system that is yet to be installed and the deposit hasn’t been refunded, or the system has only been partially installed.

If the above fails to produce results, feel free to contact SolarQuotes and we may be able to offer further advice depending on your situation.
