Michael's Recom Panels Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

Recom was one of those solar panel brands available in Australia that came and went without many people noticing. The company still produces panels today, but none are listed by Australia's Clean Energy Council as approved for rebates.

Company Info

Recom Technologies was founded in 2007. While starting out in Greece, the company's headquarters are now located in Milan, Italy - but it still maintains an office in Greece and other countries including Cyprus, Germany, Singapore, UAE, the UK and USA. But it has no presence in Australia these days.

Manufacturing was originally in Taiwan, but the company acquired a cell production facility in Padua, Italy, in 2015 and a module manufacturing plant in Lannion, France, in 2017. In 2024, the company said it was transferring its module production from France to Italy. The company claims it has shipped 3.2GW of its modules globally, and coincidentally (or not - there may be a typo), says it has an annual production capacity exceeding 3.2 GW.

As well as producing solar panels, Recom developed, financed, engineered and constructed numerous solar farms around the world. Recom hasn't confined itself to panels either - it has also branched out into manufacturing inverters, hybrid storage systems, batteries, and electrical vehicle (EV) chargers.

Recom Solar Panels In Australia

Recom panels available here in Australia were both  monocrystalline and polycrystalline modules with output power ranging between 190W and 300W and in 60-cell and 72-cell configurations. When its panels stopped being available and CEC-listed here isn't clear - and that's not unusual; plenty of companies have come and gone over the years with little fanfare on their exit.

Warranty Information

When available here, Recom panels had 10-year product warranty coverage and 25-year linear performance coverage, with 0.65% maximum yearly degradation and minimum 81.4% of initial power in the 25th year. Warranty issues should be raised with your installer, the importer or the company's HQ (if the installer and Australian importer are no longer around).
