Company Info

Given Samsung's breadth of electronics manufacturing, it's no surprise that the Korean company was also active in the PV industry. As a matter of fact, Samsung’s involvement in the solar field started in the late 80s when its R&D department began working on thin-film technologies and applications.

But Samsung reportedly officially exited solar panel manufacturing in 2016; deciding to shift their focus and resources to other core business areas.

Samsung Solar Panels In Australia

When Samsung was manufacturing solar panels, among the modules available here in Australia were models from the MBA series with capacities ranging from 247 Watts to 255 Watts.

These were 60-cell monocrystalline panels measuring 1644 x 992 x 46 mm and weighing 20.2 kilograms. MBA modules had a conversion efficiency of up to 15.64%, and a temperature coefficient of PMax of -0.438%/C (which is pretty low by today's standards).

Warranty Details

Samsung MBA panels were covered by a 10-year product warranty and 25-year performance warranty. Given Samsung no longer produces modules, your best bet for a warranty claim would be to contact the company that supplied and installed your panels (if they are still in business) before trying your luck with Samsung.

While Samsung PV modules are no longer available, there are some great brands around to choose from these days. Find out more about selecting solar panels for your home.
