Hitachi was founded in Japan in 1910 and first began producing air conditioners in the 1950s; so the firm has had plenty of manufacturing experience.

Hitachi has manufacturing and R&D facilities across 13 locations. Among those are a 55,000 square meter manufacturing and servicing hub in Selangor, Malaysia, and a 24,000 square meter electronic components facility in Pattaya City, Thailand.

Hitachi Split Systems

There are several split system product lines:

airHome 400

Available in 2.5 kW - 8.8 kW capacities, the AirHome 400 has a Zone Energy Efficiency Star Rating in average climates of 3.5 - 5 stars for cooling and 2.5 - 3.5 stars for heating, depending on model 

Noise levels for the indoor head unit range from 20 - 48 dB(A), depending on model and mode, and 60 - 65 for the outdoor unit. 

airHome 500

The airHome 500 is a cooling only air-conditioner available in 2.5 - 7 kW capacities. It has an average climate Zone Energy Efficiency Star Rating of 3.5 - 5.5 stars, depending on model.

Noise levels for the indoor head unit range from 20 - 48 dB(A), depending on model and mode, and 46 - 54  dB(A) for the outdoor unit. 

airHome 600

The airHome 600 is available in various capacities ranging from 2.5 kW to 8 kW cooling (3.2 kW - 8 kW heating). These units have a Zone Energy Efficiency Star Rating in average climates of 4 - 5.5 stars for cooling and 2.5 - 3.5 stars for heating, depending on model.

Noise levels for the airHome 600 indoor head unit range from 20 - 48 dB(A), depending on model and mode, and 46 - 54 dB(A) for the outdoor unit. 

P-Series

The P-Series is available in various capacities ranging from 2.5 kW to 8 kW cooling (3.3 kW - 9 kW heating). These units have a Zone Energy Efficiency Star Rating in average climates of 3.5 - 5 stars for cooling and 3 - 3.5 stars for heating, depending on model.

P-Series indoor head unit noise levels range from 22 - 46 dB(A), depending on model and mode, and 47 - 50 dB(A) for the outdoor unit. 

The P-Series have lots of interesting bells and buzzers, including Advanced Intelligent Image Sensor Technology that scans the room's layout and detects the number of people, their location and activity in the room; directing airflow where needed. When there's no-one detected in the room for a specific amount of time, the air conditioner automatically switches off.

An infra-red sensor also regulates the room temperature according to a person's active body movements. 

S-Series

Another premium product, the S Series is offered in capacities ranging from 2.5 kW to 8 kW cooling (3.8 kW - 9 kW heating).

The S-Series has a Zone Energy Efficiency Star Rating in average climates of 2.5 - 5.5 stars for cooling and 3 - 5.5 stars for heating, depending on model.

S-Series indoor head unit noise levels range from 22 - 48 dB(A), depending on model and mode, and 47 - 54 dB(A) for the outdoor unit. 

Among its advanced features, the S Series also offers Advanced Intelligent Image Sensor Technology, Frostwash and power tracking. Of all the split systems, the S-Series has the most features.

R32 refrigerant  (Difluoromethane) is used in all Hitachi's split system models.

airCore 700 Ducted

Hitachi’s flagship residential ducted split system range, the airCore 700 is available in wide capacity range (5.0/6.0 kW - 16.0/18.0 kW) and is designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -20°C to 52°C.

airCore 700 indoor noise levels range from 21.5 - 48 dB(A), depending on model and mode, and 53 - 57 dB(A) for the outdoor unit. 

The airCore 700 also uses R32 refrigerant.

Monitoring And Control

Aside from the included remote, monitoring and control of Hitachi air-conditioning systems can be achieved via the airCloud Go smartphone app, which can be used to set up location awareness and temperature profiles. It has some interesting features such as detecting when you are on your way home and automatically adjusting the temperature for your arrival. Voice control with Alexa and Google Home is also supported.
