About Kelvinator

Kelvinator was founded in Detroit, Michigan, in 1914 by Nathaniel B. Wales, initially as the Electro-Automatic Refrigerating Company. The firm was renamed to Kelvinator in 1916 in honour of British mathematician, mathematical physicist and engineer, Lord Kelvin.

Kelvinator began offering central air conditioning and heating systems for homes in 1936, and Kelvinator Australia began manufacturing air conditioners under licence from January 1956. 

Kelvinator became part of the Electrolux Group over time through various acquisitions, with Swedish company A.B. Electrolux gaining control over the global brand in 1986.

In July 2025, Indian retailer Reliance Industries acquired Kelvinator.

• KSD71HWJ - 7.1 kW: Indoor sound levels are 34 - 52 dB(A) depending on mode, while outdoor sound pressure is 60 dB(A). The energy star rating for the KSD71HWJ is 2.5 for cooling and 3.0 for heating.
• KSD50HWJ - 5.0 kW: Indoor head unit sound levels are 34 - 59 dB(A) depending on mode. Outdoor sound pressure is 67 dB(A). The energy star rating for the KSD50HWJ is 3.5 for cooling and  heating.
• KSD35HWH - 3.5 kW: Indoor sound levels are 25 - 42 dB(A) depending on mode. The outdoor sound level is 56 dB(A) The energy star rating for the KSD35HWH is 4 for cooling and  heating.
• KSV25HRG - 2.5 kW:  Indoor noise levels are 25 - 42 dB(A) depending on mode, and outdoor sound pressure is 56 dB(A) The energy star rating for the KSV25HRG is 5 for cooling and  heating.
• KSD25HRG - 2.5 kW: Indoor sound levels are 25 - 42 dB(A) depending on mode, while outdoor sound pressure is 56 dB(A) The energy star rating for the KSD25HRG is 5 for cooling and  heating.

Common features include a DC fan motor with 12 fan speeds, concealed dimmable digital display, HEPA and ion filters, auto swing, LCD remote and Demand Response Enabling Device (DRED) technology. The Refrigerant type used in Kelvinator split systems is R32 (Difluoromethane).
