About SimpliPhi Power, Solar Batteries

SimpliPhi Power solar batteries review

SimpliPhi Power is a U.S company that designs and manufactures LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery energy storage systems for home, commercial and industrial applications.

Previously, SimpliPhi Power was called LibertyPak, which was established back in 2002.

The company started making the switch from lithium ion batteries containing cobalt to iron phosphate around 2007 due to that chemistry's greater efficiency and safety. Its energy storage products have been used by the U.S. military in harsh environments such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

SimpliPhi Power batteries were originally distributed in Australia and New Zealand by DPA Solar, but in 2021, Briggs & Stratton acquired SimpliPhi Power and it appears that relationship no longer exists.

SimpliPhi Power Batteries In Australia

While the company's batteries were available in Australia at one point, all the vendor listings we've seen as at June 2025 indicate 'out of stock', so it's possible they are no longer available locally.

One of the batteries that was previously available here was the SimpliPhi PHI3.4 Smart-Tech battery.

This modular solution could be used in both off-grid and hybrid setups, was compact, had a very high cycle life and a BMS integrated into each battery — but it was comparatively expensive.

Each module had a 3.4kWh storage capacity, or 2.75kWh if you cycled at 80% depth of discharge as per the warranty document. It was indoor-rated (IP 32) and had an operating temperature range of 0° to 49°C.

These days, the Simpliphi range has evolved into a modular stackable product that is outdoor rated with up to 19.95 kWh storage capacity - the SimpliPHI 6.6 Battery System. It can be scaled up to 6 stacks for 119.7 kWh of storage. But we haven't seen this product available in Australia.

Warranty Details

There was a 10-year warranty on the SimpliPhi PHI3.4 Smart-Tech battery. If you have a warranty claim, your first point of contact should be the company that supplied the battery. Failing that, have a chat to Briggs & Stratton using the details above.

If you have a SimpliPhi battery, share your thoughts with other Australians curious about this brand by submitting your rating and review. To see home energy storage solutions currently available in Australia, see our home battery guide.
