Company Info
You won't find much information about the firm on its website, but as mentioned Thermastore is a sister brand of Evoheat, which has been supplying heat pump hot water systems to Australian customers since before 2010. As Evoheat units are manufactured in China, we assume Thermastore products are as well.
Thermastore Heatwave270 Heat Pump Details
The company says its all-in-one Heatwave270 (270 litre tank) is sized for households of up to 6 people. However, in our comprehensive heat pump guide, SolarQuotes recommends not going for anything smaller than 315 litres for 6 people. That said, the Heatwave 270 is a perfect size for a 5 person household.
Its Coefficient of Performance (COP) typically ranges from 4.0 to 4.8, depending on ambient conditions.
Thermastore says the Heatwave270 is built to withstand extreme climates, functioning efficiently in temperatures as low as -7°C, and has an auto-defrost feature. It has a 1 kW backup element for periods of extended unfavourable conditions, or for a quick boost.
The unit uses R290 (propane) refrigerant, has an operating noise level of 49.5 dB(A) and measures 640 x 1949 mm.
As for monitoring, wi-fi control (an optional upgrade) allows you to monitor and control your Heatwave270 from your smart phone.
Warranty Information
We couldn't find a dedicated warranty document on the Thermastore website, but were able to discern the Heatwave270 is accompanied by the following:
- 6-year tank warranty
- 5 years on the compressor
- 5 years on parts
- 1 year on labour
Note that applying additional corrosion protection is a warranty requirement if the unit is installed in a corrosive environment (e.g. coastal areas or industrial zones).
There are some further details regarding warranty in the user's manual that can be downloaded from the company's web site.
