Michael's Auxin Solar LLC Inverters Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

The USA's Auxin Solar had an Australian presence in the early 2010's, but appears to have only lasted around 2 years here. It was a good thing not many of their inverters were installed in Australia and this may be partly why they took their bat and ball and went home.

Company Background

Founded in 2008, Auxin Solar has been producing PV modules in the United States for over a decade. It once had a presence in Australia, with representation in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Its Australian website launched in 2011; but wasn't around for long - it went offline for good in mid-2013.

Along with inverters, Auxin also offered their solar panels and racking systems here. In addition to their own inverter line, they bundled their panels with inverters from other better-know brands.

Auxin Solar Inverters In Australia

When they were available here, several models were approved for use by the Clean Energy Council from the AXN PV series, in 1.5kW, 2kW, 3kW and 4kW output capacities. These were single Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) units, with maximum conversion efficiencies of 94% - 96% depending on the model. On a very old datasheet we've seen, there was no claim of USA manufacturing - so these inverters were likely produced elsewhere (our guess - China).

We couldn't locate any Australian warranty information for AXN PV inverters, but it's likely that any still in use today in Australia are no longer covered. If you own a problematic Auxin, you could try contacting the company via the details above, but your first move should be to contact the company that sold and installed your inverter as they are also on the hook for warranty.

If all else fails, it's probably not worthwhile trying to get your Auxin repaired. Bite the bullet and buy a new inverter - the devices are much cheaper than they used to be and offer so much more!
