Michael's Beijing Rewatt New Energy Technology Inverters Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

Beijing Rewatt Smart Energy Technology was one of the many Chinese inverter manufacturers supplying inverters into Australia in the 2010's that didn't last the distance. Hopefully their inverters did for (the few) Australians who purchased them.

About Beijing Rewatt New Energy Technology

Like so many Chinese inverter manufacturers before (and after) it, Beijing Rewatt New Energy Technology Co., Ltd wound up in that country's company graveyard a long time ago.

Company Info

Beijing Rewatt Smart Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was a subsidiary wholly-owned by Beijing Chenyuan Chuangxin Engineering Co., Ltd. The company  had production facilities at Beijing Haidian High-tech Zone. This was located in the Zhongguancun Core Zone, which is hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The company manufactured PV inverters, wind power converters, monitoring systems, combiner boxes, switch cabinets and power distribution cabinets.

What happened to the company has been lost in the mists of time, but its website went offline around mid-2016 and the domain name has hosted the websites of at least a couple of other companies since.

Rewatt Inverters In Australia

The company offered a number of inverters in Australia that were once approved by the Clean Energy Council. These were from the CR series and available in capacities from 1.5kW to 12kW.

The 5kW model, CR-5000DTL, offered 2 Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) channels and transformerless operation. Maximum conversion efficiency of this unit was 97.4%. The CR-5000 DTL measured 345 x 152 x 435 mm and weighed 18 kg.

As for the warranty on these inverters, that information has been difficult to find. But given it's 2025 when updating this page it's likely they are no longer covered. You could try contacting the company that supplied and installed the unit as they still  have warranty responsibility. But outside of that; don't bother with trying to get a Rewatt inverter repaired. It won't be worth it - it's time to select another inverter brand.
