Originally set up by Diehl Controls, Platinum Solar was a German company producing inverters primarily for residential applications. 

Company Details

Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG, a German company established in 1902, began manufacturing solar inverters under the Platinum brand way back in 2004. Platinum became an autonomous brand in 2013, but manufacturing at the Allgäu site in Germany ended in 2014 not long after after Mutares Solar GmbH acquired Platinum GmbH, and the brand subsequently disappeared.

Platinum Solar Inverters In Australia

At one point, there were more than a dozen Platinum GmbH inverter models available for sale in Australia, approved for use here by the Clean Energy Council. These units ranged in capacities from 5 kW to 15 kW. The company offered solar inverters for single and three-phase applications, with or without a transformer; although the latter weren't sold in Australia.

• R3-M2-series (9 to 16 kW) three-phase
• TLD-series (13 to 22 kW) three-phase
• TLD-series (4 to 7 kW) single phase w/o transformer

Warranty Details

From February 2011, Platinum Solar GmbH's standard warranty for the S, H, TL, TLD and R3 product families was boosted from five years to 10 years, and could be extended to 20 years. While no Platinum Solar inverters still installed in Australia would be covered by the standard warranty anymore, those with extended warranties would be. Given Planet Solar's demise, the only possible recourse for Australian owners with warranty claims would be to contact the local company that supplied/installed the unit.
