Company Info
REFUsol's history is rather messy. The Prettl Group acquired REFU Elektronik in 2004, which was later known as RefuSol. It was part of Prettl Group until 2013, when it was acquired by Advanced Energy Industries.
REFUsol was headquartered in Metzingen, German and previously developed three-phase string inverters for commercial customers ranging in capacity up to 24kW.
Advanced Energy (AE) was founded in 1981 and has several local offices in Asia, North America, and Europe and manufacturing plants located in Canada, in Korea, in China and the United States.
After the acquisition, AE produced single-phase solar inverters (AE 1TL series - 801/802) as well as three-phase inverters (in the AE 3TL series), central inverters, inverter integration solutions, related accessories, and monitoring systems.
But in June 2015, the company stopped manufacturing solar inverters, due poor sales and increased competition in the market.
While companies by the name of "REFU" still exist, they are focused on larger inverters for commercial operations.
REFUsol Inverters In Australia
A range of REFUsol inverters were approved for use in Australia, from the 801R and 802R series; ranging in capacities from 3.7 kW to 19.2 kW
Clean Energy Council listings for REFUsol inverters expired in 2016/17.
Warranty Details
When REFUsol inverters were available in Australia, they were accompanied by a 5 year warranty, which means none are still covered. Instead of a potentially expensive repair, you'd be better off considering choosing a new inverter from another brand that is supported in Australia.
