Michael's Suzhou Hosola New Energy Inverters Review & Verdict
Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.
Hosola was another Chinese inverter company hawking their wares in Australia for a while. The firm no longer exists and given we're spoiled for inverter choice in Australia that's no real loss — except for Australians that bought Hosola inverters. Judging by the lack of reviews, perhaps that wasn't many.
Suzhou Hosola New Energy Inverters: Pros & Cons
- Company no longer operating
About Suzhou Hosola New Energy
Hosola New Energy Co. Ltd was a Chinese solar inverter manufacturer operating in conjunction with several institutions and universities such as the Astronautics University, Tsinghua University, and Nanjing Aeronautics. But even these high profile associations weren't enough to sustain and save the company, which disappeared around 2023 for reasons unknown.
While headquartered in China, Hosola had offices in other parts of the world, including the Netherlands and for a while Australia (Springvale, Victoria, to be precise). The company's manufacturing was carried out in Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu.
Hosola Inverters In Australia
Hosola had two series of PV inverters available in Australia, the Smart series and Bright series - with capacities ranging from 1kW to 5kW. Both lines were single-phase with maximum efficiencies up to 97.4%. In the Bright series, the inverters measured 506 x 348 x 148 mm and weighed 17 kg to 18.9 kg.
Note that we've seen some new Hosolar inverters listed on online marketplaces in 2025. They are as cheap as chips, but you likely won't get Distributed Network Service Provider (DNSP) permission to connect these units to the grid unless (perhaps) they are a direct replacement - but check with your DNSP first before even thinking about buying one.
Warranty Information
When the company was operating, Hosolar inverters were covered by a 5 year warranty.
As for the inverters being sold in online marketplaces today, you can forget about manufacturer warranty or any sort of support, so it's probably wise to get a new solar inverter from another brand that's actually still in business and more likely to be over the duration of their warranty.
If you bought a Hosola inverter in the past, feel free to leave review to share your experience with us and other Australians.
