Michael's VoltLogic Inverters Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

RESA's VoltLogic hybrid inverters were Australian-made and advanced for their time. Unfortunately, the company didn't last.

VoltLogic Inverters: Pros & Cons

About VoltLogic

VoltLogic inverters were once produced in Australia, but the company went into liquidation in 2018.

Company Info

Founded in 2010, Renewable Energy Solutions Australia (RESA) was a renewable energy company that designed and developed products for wind and solar power applications. Parent company RESA Operations went into liquidation in November 2018.

VolLogic Hybrid Inverters

VoltLogic was a hybrid inverter solution that could limit export power to the grid without any extra relays or separate products, charge batteries for grid connect or off-grid applications and also be used as a STATCOM to manage voltage rise and power factor.

Manufactured in Brisbane, it was suitable for single phase or 3 phase installations and had output capacities ranging from 5kW – 30kW; although more powerful units could be manufactured on request.

But the only Voltlogic inverter we've seen approved for use in Australia by the Clean Energy Council is the single-phase VLI105, which had 4.95 kW output. This device was first CEC approved in 2014, and its listing expired in 2019. However, according to archive copies of the RESA website, Voltlogic inverters were approved for use by selected electricity networks in several states.

Warranty Details

We haven't been able to locate warranty details on the VoltLogic VLI105. Inverters of the time were usually accompanied by a 5-year warranty, but some manufacturers offered 10 years. The latter being the case, some VoltLogic inverters would still be covered. But with the company having liquidated, your best hope to make a claim is contacting the company that supplied and installed the device (if they are still around) as they have warranty responsibility too.
