Nexpower Technology was a Taiwanese solar panel manufacturer that was established in 2005 and based in Taichung City.
Company Info
Nexpower was originally a subsidiary of United Microelectronics Corporation, one of the biggest Taiwanese companies producing semiconductors.
The company specialised in manufacturing solar panels with μc-Si tandem solar cells. This is a a type of solar cell combining two silicon-based sub-cells: a top layer of amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and a bottom layer of microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H).
Nexpower Technology eventually ramped up production capacity to 100MW annually. While marketed all over the world, Nexpower did not not have any commercial office outside Taiwan and the company quietly disappeared around mid-2018.
Nexpower Solar Panels In Australia
Among the Nexpower panels available locally were models from the NT series:
- NT-125AX: 125W
- NT-130AX: 130W
- NT-135AX: 135W
- NT-140AX: 140W
- NT-145AX: 145W
These offered conversion efficiencies of up to 9.6%, with the 140AX and 145AX measuring 1412 x 1112 x 42 mm and weighing 19.8 kilograms.
Warranty Details
Nexpower Technology NT series panels had a 5-year product warranty and 25-year performance warranty. So, any still installed in Australia would still have performance warranty coverage. However, to claim warranty would mean the original supplier/installer would still need to be in business given Nexpower is no longer around.
