Michael's Haier Batteries Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

Haier is a huge Chinese home appliance company that owns many brands, including Fisher & Paykel. In 2024, the company expanded into the solar battery, panel and inverter market.

While the backing of a major company instils some confidence, being such a new product, it's hard to say how their HV HHS-1X home batteries will perform in Australian conditions over time. But there's nothing particularly exciting about them.

Company Information

Haier has its roots way back in the 1920's when a refrigerator factory was built in Qingdao by its predecessor to supply the Chinese market. Haier was founded as Qingdao Refrigerator Co. in 1984, then it took over a number of other struggling appliance manufacturers in the 1990's and the company's name was changed to Haeir in 1992.

Since then it has continued to grow and acquire other companies; including Fisher & Paykel, GE Appliances and Carrier Commercial Refrigeration.

Haier unveiled batteries for the Australian market at the All Energy trade show in Melbourne in 2024, which are manufactured by Qingdao Nahui Energy Technology Co Ltd — also owned by Haier. The company has chosen to associate its batteries, inverters and solar panels with the Fisher & Paykel brand name in Australia.

Fantastic product. Bought the 20kwh Haier Battery paired with a 10kw Single phase Goodwe EHB Inverter, and 20kw of panels.
It all works seamlessly, and I chose the Haier battery because I have a number of other Haier and Fisher & Paykel products in my house and they have always been a great company to deal with.
When researching all the different battery options, I wanted to make sure that I was putting a safe product in my home, and figured Haier would be a good bet as they are a very large company that will be around to support the product if any issues with warranty etc down the track. My installer also explained that the Haier batteries have triple layer safety protection with lots of sensors constantly monitoring all the battery cells, which is very important in any type of lithium battery product.
The product also looks great installed in my garage, and its very slim and doesn’t take up much room at all. Am happily recommending it to friends and family who are also in the market for a new system at the moment.
