China's Hoymiles was founded in 2012 by two power electronics majors at Zhejiang University, but it's a reasonably new player in the Australian solar market, with their Australian subsidiary founded in Melbourne in 2022. The firm says it has 4 manufacturing bases and more than 1,600 employees globally, and ships its products to 190 countries.
Hoymiles Batteries Available In Australia
At the start of 2025, Hoymiles launched their LB-5D-G2 home battery in Australia, but Hoymiles has told me their current residential battery product is the HiOne home battery. This is a modular all-in-one system with a built-in hybrid solar inverter. Here are the datasheets for the single-phase HiOne and the three-phase HiOne.
Hoymiles says they can instantly switch to providing backup power when a blackout occurs and their datasheets indicate the batteries have an operating temperature of -20 to 55°C, which is suitable for use across Australia and better than a considerable number of other battery systems.
Warranty Information
Here is the warranty document for the Hoymiles HiOne home battery. The warranty is for 10 years or until it provides 23,613 kWh of stored energy per 8kWh battery module. It states the battery will retain a minimum of 70% of its original capacity for the duration of the warranty. If a module had its full usable capacity of 7.24 kWh when new discharged each day, the warranty would last 8.9 years. As home batteries are usually used at a lower capacity factor than this, the warranty should last for a full 10 years for most households.
The datasheets for the HiOne give a cycle life of 8,000 cycles and it is not reflected in its warranty, as it will end after around 3,260 full cycles of 7.24 kWh. The datasheet adds some conditions to the 8,000 cycle figure. Despite this, customers may see this as Hoymiles stating the battery can be expected to last for 8,000 cycles. I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding is this may have consumer law implications.
