Finn's EVOS EV Chargers Review & Verdict
Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO
It's always great to see Australian-made gear – and EVOS also maximises local content in terms of the components in its EV chargers. The SB7 is the same unit used by Ampol for its Ampcharge product, just rebadged.

Company Information
After its founding in 2020, the company initially raised $1.7m to help it expand and commercialise its technology. Then in July 2023, EVOS completed another funding round, securing an additional $5m from existing investors. As well as serving Australia, the firm has also been exporting products to the Middle East, Malaysia, Japan and other regions.
In terms of local manufacturing, EVOS states it uses local suppliers for bits 'n bobs wherever possible and says it only imports one component from Germany - and that's because there are no locally made options.
EVOS says it has partnered with an (unnamed) Tier 1 auto manufacturer with more than 30 years' experience for the production of its hardware. The company says its customer support is all Australia-base and the EVOS team monitors every charging station 24/7 with automated alerts.
EVOS EV Chargers
As at late 2024, firm offers two different chargers - a 7kW (single-phase) and 22kW (three-phase) model.
EVOS SB7
The single-phase SB7, suitable for home use, provides up to 7kW output. Featuring a Type 2 or Type 1 connector and up to 5 metre tethered charging cable, it has an operating temperature range from -30°C to 50°C; so you might want to install this in a shaded position in some of the toastier parts of Australia. IP 65 rated, it has dimensions of 360 (W) x 83mm (D) and weighs just 3.5kg.
Importantly, it also features OCPP 1.6j compatibility. This means it can communicate with other OCPP-compatible devices, and work with third party services - making it a "smart" charger.
Detailed information on each charging session is available via the MyEVOS app. And for those who have solar panels installed, solar charging can be easily integrated with MyEVOS and an EVOS current meter. This will dynamically adjust the SB7's charging rate to align with solar energy production. It can also integrate with a home battery system.
A rebranded SB7 is being used by Ampol for its AmpCharge solution.
EVOS Fleet 22
The Fleet 22 (which can also be used for home applications) offers all the features of the SB7, but is available in three-phase for charging up to 22kW (single-phase charging up to 7.4kW). It's also a heavier unit, weighing in at 6.5kg, and slightly larger at 380 x 100 mm. Another difference is the operating temperature range - from -25°C to +55°C.
The Fleet 22's Smart Start Technology integrates with the EVOS energy platform. This can allocate and schedule preferential charging, manage energy consumption and cost, understand charging behavior and offers comprehensive reporting.
Warranty Information
EVOS offers a 2-year warranty on both its Fleet and SB7 chargers, and it looks like there are options for extending the warranties for an additional fee. Under the warranty, EVOS will repair any defects in material or workmanship or replace the charger, without any cost to the customer for parts or labour. However, the EVOS warranty doesn't cover disconnection or reinstallation costs (but that *may* be covered by the installer).
