Michael's B and B Power Inverters Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

While some very good solar inverters have come out of China, there's been a lot of very ordinary gear as well; B&B inverters among them. Thankfully, they weren't very popular here and the company is no longer around - at all.

B and B Power Inverters: Pros & Cons

About B and B Power

B&B Power was one the many Chinese companies to take a crack at manufacturing inverters, and then disappear.

B&B Power's roots were in its original parent company Fuling Electrical, which was established in 1994. A subsidiary company was formed (B&B Power Co., Ltd) in 2011 to focus on the photovoltaic market; producing solar inverters for grid connected, off grid (stand alone) and hybrid applications.

In 2013, B&B Power became a wholly owned subsidiary of Moso Power. As at early 2025, B&B Power appears to be no more, but when it shut up shop isn't clear. It looks like the company's web site went off the air sometime in 2018.

B&B Power Solar Inverters In Australia

The inverters B&B sold into the Australian market were from the SolarFamily (SF) and SolarTown (ST) series.

The SolarFamily series were transformerless inverters offering a maximum efficiency of up to 97.7% and were available in capacities from 1.6kW to 4.6kW. The SolarTown series, also transformerless, were for larger installations - 10kW to 17kW.

The ST series offered dual MPPTs, as did the SF series in 3.6kW to 4.6kW capacities. Both series were IP65 rated, making them suitable for outdoor installation.

Warranty Information

The SF and ST series had a 5-year warranty that could be extended to 20 years for an added cost. Given B&B Power is no longer around, hopefully not too many Australia's chose to extend the warranty for that long.

The length of the standard warranty means that any of these inverters installed in Australia would no longer be covered by warranty. A failing or failed B&B inverter simply isn't worth fixing - it's time to choose another brand.
