Victoria's Ecofield Biotech reportedly sold rebadged crap inverters from China; so it's no surprise the company didn't last.
ECOfield Biotech Inverters: Pros & Cons
- Company no longer exists
About ECOfield Biotech
Ecofield Biotech was an Australian company situated in Box Hill, Melbourne.
The company was registered in September 2009 and deregistered in August 2012, so it didn't last long.
It doesn't appear Ecofield Biotech manufactured their own solar inverters. Judging by the model numbers and other snippets of info we've come across, they may have used rebadged JFY inverters. The models approved for use here in the 2010's included:
- JSI-2000TL (2 kW)
- JSI-3000TL (3 kW)
- JSI-5000TL (4.6 kW)
- JSI-6000TL (6 kW).
JFY inverters haven't had a good track record in Australia. In 2018, the Clean Energy Council (CEC) de-listed all JFY inverters from its approved products database after a model failed compliance testing; and a subsequent appeal was denied.
If you have an Ecofield Biotech solar inverter that is no longer functioning, the warranty may not be of much use given the company has ceased operations and JFY no longer has a presence in Australia (and may not cover rebadged units anyway). But if you still have warranty coverage (very unlikely) and your installer is still around, they are responsible for honouring it.
If you no longer have warranty coverage, a fix isn't worth pursuing. Check out SQ-recommended budget inverter brands.
