Michael's XIAMEN KEHUA HENGSHENG CO LTD Inverters Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

Xiamen Kehua Hengsheng (Kehua Tech) is still a pretty big deal in its home country of China. But not in Australia these days, and it never really has been. If you're interested in Kehua's inverters for a home solar installation in Australia, you'd best keep looking as none of its products are currently approved for use here by the Clean Energy Council.

XIAMEN KEHUA HENGSHENG CO LTD Inverters: Pros & Cons

  • No Australian office

Company Info

Kehua Tech focuses on three sectors: critical power, renewable energy and cloud infrastructure.

The firm claims to have an R&D team of over 1,000 staff and more than 2,200 engineers. It has 6 manufacturing bases, with a collective 40GW+ of annual production capacity; but doesn't clarify what that comprises. The firm says its inverters are powering 46GW+ of small and large-scale solar installations globally.

Kehua Tech Solar Inverters In Australia

As at June 2025, there are no Kehua Tech inverters currently approved for use in Australia by the Clean Energy Council; meaning they aren't eligible for the national solar rebate or grid-connection. In the past, among the models that were approved included:

  • SPI1500-B (1.65 kW)
  • SPI2000-B (2.2 kW)
  • SPI3000-B (3.3 kW)
  • SPI4000-B (4.4 kW)
  • SPI4600-B (5.06 kW)

The 1.8 kW and 2 kW models had one MPPT, while the larger capacity units offered two. Offering a maximum efficiency of 97.2%, these inverters had a maximum DC input voltage of 500 V.

This SPI series had an LCD screen, an operating temperature range of -20 ~ +60C and were IP65 rated, making them suitable for indoor or outdoor installation.

Kehua Tech's SPI series of inverters for home use are still produced today, but have a slightly different designator (B2) and no doubt some specs have changed in the more recent models. They certainly look quite different.

Warranty Details

As far as we can make out, Xiamen Kehua Hengsheng provided the original SPI series with a 5-year warranty. Given when these were installed in Australia, chances are the warranty has run out on most. But if yours is still covered and you're experiencing issues, the best bet is to first contact the company that installed it. If that's unsuccessful for whatever reason, try contacting Kehua Tech's Chinese headquarters using the details above.
