Michael's CSG PVTech Panels Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

CSG PVTech solar panels weren't available in Australia for all that long and had a comparatively short warranty. We don't think many of their modules were installed here thankfully.

Company Info

CSG PVTech Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CSG Holdings, a major glass manufacturer.

These days the company makes some pretty big panels; both in terms of size and capacity. For example, the company's "Jumbo Size" BIPV Module offers 890W capacity. It measures 4592 x 1319 x 17.5 mm and weighs a whopping 257.5 kg. You won't see these on any rooftops; and they aren't meant to be. The panels are meant to replace conventional exterior wall materials.

The company's HQ and manufacturing centre in Dongguan covers an area of about 40 acres and has two independent production workshops, with a factory area of about 80,000 square meters.  The factory boasts 6 production lines for cells, 4 production lines for solar panels, and 1 for BIPV products and BAPV tiles.

CSG PVTech says its annual production capacity for solar cells is about 1GW, and its annual PV module production capacity is around the same.

CSG PVTech Solar Panels In Australia

The company's solar panels were available in Australia in the mid-2010's, but very little has been written about the modules - their performance, pricing or even when exports to Australia were discontinued. What we do know is they were available in wattages from 160W to 300W, in mono or poly and in 60-cell and 72-cell configurations.

Warranty Information

It looks like CSG PVTech solar panels had a very short warranty when they were available in Australia - 3 years product and 5 year performance. This would mean that none of their panels still installed in Australia would have warranty coverage. If your CSG PVTech modules are kaput or approaching it, get some tips on choosing solar panels (and see our recommendations).

If you have CSG PVTech on panels on your rooftop, we'd been keen to hear your views on these rather obscure modules.
