Link Energy was an Australian company headquartered in the Sydney suburb of Greenacre that was established in 2010.
Company Info
While Link Energy claimed to develop solar panels made with locally sourced materials, its Jupiter series of modules were manufactured in China (by which company we don't know) — it even said so on the Jupiter datasheet.
Link Energy said it had 6 offices and warehouses around Australia. When the company ceased operations isn't clear, but the last archived copy of their website was dated early 2022.
Its products were distributed by local wholesaler PowerArk Solar (who was the certificate holder for the panels), which is also kaput.
Link Energy Solar Panels In Australia
Among the solar panels offered by Link Energy in its later years were the Jupiter series. These were monocrystalline modules available in capacities of 300-315 Watts and 330-350 Watts.
The 300-315 Watt Jupiter models featured 60 cells, had dimensions of 1650 x 992 x 40/35 mm and weighed 18.5/19.5 kg. These panels had a conversion efficiency of 17.11% to 19.24%
In the 330 W to 350 W Jupiter range, the panels had 72 cells, measured 1956 x 992 x 40mm, weighed 21.5 kg and offered a conversion efficiency of up to 18.04%.
All had a temperature co-efficient of PMax of -0.39%/C, which by today's standards is pretty poor and was nothing stellar back then either. However, the company claimed "outstanding" low light performance through the use of 5BB mono cells.
Warranty Details
Link Energy solar panels were provided with a 10-year product warranty and 25-year performance warranty. With the company no longer operating and distributor PowerArk Solar going into voluntary administration in 2021 and subsequently liquidated, a warranty claim will be difficult unless the company that supplied/installed them is still around as that party shares warranty responsibility.
