Finn's Ambrion Batteries Review & Verdict
Finn Peacock has been a Chartered Electrical Engineer since 1998, and is ex-CSIRO
Who the heck is Ambrion, you may well ask. That's a really good question because the Ambrion website reveals very little about the company behind it. There are no contact details aside from a contact form, or even any warranty details beyond "10 years." We had to dig around elsewhere for this information.
On the datasheet from the Ambrion website for the Raybox HS2 battery, the "Made In China" reference is in tiny white text on a white background right at the bottom of the second page—so it’s invisible. What’s with that? Some good solar batteries (but also some garbage) are made in China.
Maybe it was a mistake, but none of this inspires confidence. I recommend skipping over Ambrion and looking at battery brands that are more transparent and have a solid home energy storage track record in Australia.
Ambrion Batteries: Pros & Cons
- Lack of information and installer/customer feedback
- Conflicting performance warranty details.

Warranty Information
The warranty document provided by SolarBOS states the Ambrion battery has a 10 year warranty from the date of installation. It also gives an energy throughput limit. If the battery's full usable capacity is discharged an average of once per day, this limit will cause the warranty will end after around 8.4 years.
SolarBos Pty Ltd also guarantees the battery will retain 70% of its nominal capacity for 10 years, or until the energy throughput limit is reached.

Customer service has been left a little wanting, getting info on the performance of the original battery is hard to get. Hopefully all will be resolved with the install of the 2nd battery.

Once installed the battery was in use immediately.
The software app give me good visibility of the status of the battery.
My only caveat is that the battery was advertised as a 10.4kWh battery. However, because the battery can only discharge down to 1.5 kWh, this means that the available battery storage is really 9kWh.
