Anthony's ATMOCE Batteries Review & Verdict

Anthony Bennett is SolarQuotes' in-house solar installer.

Billed as "The World's First Stackable AC Battery" the ATMOCE fills an interesting niche, not dissimilar to Enphase, but without two decades of experience.

According to their well-organised Australian website, ATMOCE are using large-scale, local electrical wholesalers, which augers well for getting support under Australian Consumer Law. They also have a DNSP guide which is very helpful for system sizing.

The overall package appears to be well thought out and obviously has serious local support, not just a local web address for regulator box-ticking. Might be worth a try, if you can accept the risk on a new company and have a suitable use case, perhaps for AC coupling to existing solar.

ATMOCE Batteries: Pros & Cons

  • Using large local wholesalers
  • AC-coupled design allows retrofit to existing solar
  • Decent 15 year warranty
  • Hasn't been in Australia for very long

About ATMOCE

To distil the ATMOCE website, we’ll say they're founded in 2024, headquartered in Germany, and use an endless word salad to describe their battery business.

Putting the buzzwords into alphabetical order, there’s: collective, community, efficiency, energy, engineering, forged, global, innovation, independence, mission, meticulous, reliable, renewable, scalable, scenario, seamless, smart, sophisticated, sustainable, synthesis, and technology. They even have a six-letter acronym to describe their R&D product philosophy.

Using the direct quote “We architect AC Solar Power Generator meticulously engineered for residential and enterprise applications.” is probably the best way to explain English isn’t the company’s first language. They have offices in the USA, Germany and China.

ATMOCE in Australia

ATMOCE was launched in Australia at All Energy 2025. The M-ELV Battery is CEC-approved and distributed across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, though we’ve yet to see one in the wild. The main offering is an AC-coupled machine with an extra low-voltage battery, spruiked as being super safe.

Going by the specifications, it would be 8 LFP cells in series for 25.6 Volts nominal, which is half that of “low voltage” offerings from everyone else in the industry. It’s a curious point of difference to the rest of the market, which is generally headed toward 15 times higher voltages, as they’re inherently lower current, lighter and thus more efficient.

There’s a microinverter for solar and EV charger available now, so ATMOCE can offer a coordinated ecosystem, along with communication protocols for external hardware. The M-CombinerPRO Gateway (Single-Phase / Three-Phase) gateway looks to be well thought out with a bypass switch as standard, and supports load control such as a hot water service or other loads.

ATMOCE Specifications

  • 7kWh storage per unit
    • up to 6 batteries (42 kWh) with backup function
    • 18 batteries (126 kWh) without backup function
  • Modest 4.5kW AC output with 5kW surge rating per unit
    • up to 11.5kVa backup single phase
    • up to 34.5kVa backup on 3 phase
  • More modest 3.75kW AC input for charging per unit
  • PV capacity supported by the M-CombinerPRO Gateway:
    • up to 9.2kW PV single phase
    • up to 27.6kW PV 3 phase
  • DC side is classed as Extra Low Voltage
    • claimed to be safer because the battery is sub 30 VDC
  • Galvanic isolation between battery and AC
  • Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry
    • more stable than NMC but not as bulletproof as lithium titanate.
  • Parallel units mean no single point of failure:
    • if one component fails, the system keeps running
    • single model offering works for single or 3 phase supply
  • 96% DC round-trip efficiency and 90% AC round-trip efficiency
  • 15 year battery warranty in Australia (total throughput: 29.2 MWh of energy throughput or a minimum of 60% SOH retained - whichever comes first)
  • AC-coupled design allows retrofit to existing solar without disturbing the original system *assuming you can get network connection approval*
  • VPP-ready: earn revenue by feeding stored energy back to the grid
  • Smart energy management:
    • AI enabled, live monitoring via the ATMOZEN app

Industry Feedback

According to at least one quality-focused solar installer forum, product support is good, and no problems were reported across 13 installations.

Though I wouldn’t draw direct parallels, the closest product existing in the current market would perhaps be the AC-coupled Enphase ecosystem.
